LendingTree bowl (Mobile) vs our old pals Southern Miss. (we’ve won the last two meetings).

We are already 1-0 vs SBC this year, looking forward to making it 2-0!
USM favored by around a TD.

Four of the six inbound AAC teams are bowling.

And… Rice keeps pace with ECU as we are both scheduled to end our respective seven year bowl droughts!

Why would USM be favored over Rice? I’m just curious how they came up with that. The SBC was the lowest conference this year plus with Rice’s market and academic profile you should easily be a 14 point favorite. Not to mention you will be in the AAC soon which gives you the power conference advantage. I guess it will be more fun to prove the haters wrong. Good luck.
Southern Miss did beat Tulane this year.

False, several blown calls and biased officials beat Tulane. Southern Miss could not and would not ever beat Tulane since we joined the AAC.

Trust me, we are not looking forward to that. I don’t know why we agreed to come to Hattiesburg. It should have at least been a 3-1 deal or something. I personally cannot go to a game in a no market town with suspect academics but I’m sure we will bring more fans to your tiny stadium than you will have like we always do. We might even bring our Cotton Bowl trophy with us.

Your stadium was filled with black and gold when we beat you...I doubt you will show up in Hattiesburg since you don't show up in NO. We have the bell and you can keep your cotton bowl runner up trophy.

False. Our bowl drought ended last year. We were there ready to play. It's not our fault the other team didn't show up to play.

The puzzling thing about ECU Coastal is that why ISN'T in Myrtle.... seems stupid for the teams to go to Birmingham, Alabama to play.

Pretty upset about this one. To be clear, I don't think we necessarily earned a great bowl finishing 7th this season.

My understanding, however, is that the Military Bowl was interested in having us back. Our AD voiced his preference that we don't go back to that bowl, as the team had already done everything but the game last year.

When having a big fanbase that travels well gets you into bowls that you don't deserve to be in, just say thank you!!

Congrats to Tulane for making the NY6 bowl and on getting a fun draw. USC with or without Williams is a winnable game for Tulane. Hope yall put on a show and shock the world.

ECU and Memphis...wild guesses...Memphis to Birmingham vsMAYBE SEC opponent; ECU to Gasparilla vs MAYBE SEC/ACC

Certainly way better than G4 fans have to think about.

Circling back to this...
I got the first four right, but I'm not going to sprain my shoulder patting myself on the back: those were pretty easy.

I said SMU to Armed Forces Bowl, reality said New Mexico Bowl. The Armed Forces Bowl was an actual contractual tie in for the American, but horse trades happen. In this case, AFB with its theme clearly wanted USAFA, and a 9 win AF probably helped keep Big12 in too. So we got the mwc end of NM Bowl. I would guess for SMU, an actual trip is better than just "travel" to FtWorth, and BYU is an attractive opponent. Wins all around.

On the last two, I got real excited at the ECU Mizzou Gasparilla rumors: good for ECU, the conference, and my guesses. But, I still think that Birmingham has some degree of pool priority or preference with the American. In Tampa, SEC ACC must have still been more attractive so ECU to BHam. I like the matchup - risk and reward.
Memphis then gets our one true "pool" matchup in the First Responders Bowl. Go beat the mwc!

So. NY6, plus two autonomy schhols, plus a next-year autonomy school in BYU (No, independent BYU has never been "Power" like ND, look at the governance, the CFP payouts, and the Orange Bowl contract).
mwc has their Kimmel Bowl matchup for champ, and that AF- Baylor matchup.
Sun Belt? Their champ wins a shot at an AAC inbound, and their other desirable matchups are, well, us.
CUSA? most of their bowl teams are heading here next year (again, I'm laughing at the propaganda that the AAC somehow got the less-accomplished teams in our rebuild) and they include the only CUSA matchups worth waking up for.

Bottom lines
- I'm not going to declare myself genius bowl prognosticator
- This proves the once and future P6. Of course our bowls aren't as good as any of the autonomy conferences, but the G4 are barely in sight in our rear view mirror and we're not slowing down

False, several blown calls and biased officials beat Tulane. Southern Miss could not and would not ever beat Tulane since we joined the AAC.

I saw the second half of that game, and what I saw was Tulane blow opportunities and make big mistakes. Two drives that resulted in missed/blocked field goals, and then a pick-six. When you make those kinds of mistakes, you often lose.

Also, good luck in the Cotton Bowl.

SMU's Rashee Rice opting out of Bowl game along with OL Thomas. BYU QB may not play due to injury, so who knows how this game will play out.

Two reasons I can see:
1. Minor Reason - Game is played at CC home stadium
2. MAIN REASON - Myrtle Beach Bowl probably does NOT pay $1,374,000 like the Birmingham Bowl does.
