We have to do a better job of protecting the ball. Too many turnovers. Can't be playing like that against North Texas. Trey played great. Those Brewer brothers can play. Jelly is Jelly.
Also, that Madlock kid on ASU can play.
These were just about all my observations as well lol.
Toledo looked pretty good tonight, should be a good game on Friday.
That’s all I could say negative too.. especially in the first half we just seemed to coast for much of the time. When we clamped down in the 2nd we blew them away. In the first, We were too lackadaisical with the ball, weren’t quick enough to loose balls and on defensive rotations, and we gave up too many offensive rebounds. That will get us beat against a good team. It was our first game against a very inferior team, so we will see if it’s actually an issue or not…
Jelly looked even better than last year. The shots he makes are just stupid sometimes.
L. Brewer was impressive. As expected, he is our 2nd or 3rd best scorer, and his 3 point shot looks legit.
Trey looked better than last year to me - decisive, aggressive, and showed some nice post moves.
Buffen and lovan looked about status quo from last year to me..
Bertram won’t play much I don’t think.
Butta will be good in the future.
Wasn’t overly impressed with Gaines in his first game. He seems to coast way too much, but also gambles way too much on defense. The team seemed to play much harder and intensely when he got ejected. The fact he got ejected in his first game, even if it wasn’t really warranted, is kind of a red flag. One of the few things that could derail this team is a headcase or chemistry issues.. to be fair, he did show some nice passing ability tonight and made some nice shots.. his jumper and his FTs are sus at best.
We have a lot of post depth. Javian Davis is a very solid, traditional post player. He looks to be very good at drawing fouls, but Counteracts that by being a bad free throw shooter.
All in all, it seemed like a fairly ho hum game, But I look up and we scored 110 points and beat a team by 40 with Jelly dropping 38. If this team clicks and doesn’t take games/halves/long stretches off, we could be really damn good. They showed flashes tonight for sure.
