Holiday Bowl (UNC vs Oregon)
I knew that UNC was in trouble when they kicked the field goal on 4th and 13 to go up by 6.
That’s a no brainer-you go for 4th and 13, since even failing to convert the 4th down is better than kicking the FG there. Forcing the opponent to actually play for the win (rather than play for overtime) is exactly what you don’t want to do there.

It would be nice if this game went back to Snapdragon Stadium now that the new stadium is complete.

It was a nice game for sure. One of the better Holiday Bowls in recent memory

RE: Holiday Bowl (UNC vs Oregon)
The North Carolina season crumbled at the end with four straight losses. True, the Heels lost to three good teams (NCST, Clemson and Oregon) in the last three games (with the four-game losing streak starting with a damaging home loss to Georgia Tech). Still, a bad way to conclude what otherwise was a very solid season.

Believe there is a 5 year contract at Petco.

Oh, Billy D!
The Heels ended up going what, 6-3 in one score games? The L’s just happened at the end of the season.
Mack should have gone for it on 4th, but he relied on his defense. PI’s were deserved but killer.

With an off the upright XP!
I was rooting for Mack. But UNC's defense has been so porous this year, they needed that TD.

Mack needs to stop spitting on the sideline. It's unbecoming for a man his age.
On a serious note, it was a good season overall, esayem. When a team is involved in nine games decided by seven or fewer points (as you note about UNC), that team is going to lose some. Few teams can go 9-0 under those circumstances.
My hope is the Heels win at least 11 games next season. It will tough but doable.

Joyous!!!!! Well played, good sir.
My father (now 91) coached a softball team (in the late 1980s) that included Watson Brown's wife. Watson was coach of Vanderbilt back then. Pops never got to meet Mack but we always cheer for him.

I wish your father good health in this new year (eat that food your mama/wife/granny makes on NYD) and I hope he still spits on the sidelines of life like Ol’ Mack!
I know my old horse racing great uncles from rural Virginia spit and spat and were the funniest ol’ boys around. Meanwhile, my grandmother acted like a reputable Richmond debutante!

To be honest, Petco is a much better location for tourists than the new SDSU stadium. It's the main reason the Chargers pushed for a downtown site for their new stadium they proposed. So I would like to keep the Holiday Bowl at Petco.
But that does not mean they can't have some bowl game at the SDSU park. Maybe they can bring back the Poinsettia Bowl.
