RE: Game Thread: GSU (3-5) @ USM (5-3) 11/5 2 PM CT ESPN+
Which GSU team shows up? The one that played UNC who has a potential Heisman candidate at QB or the one that played App State? If good GSU shows up I think that they can win this game. If bad GSU shows up, like the one who lost to UNC-Harrisburg and App, could be a long day. USM has surprised me with their physicality compared to last year. I'm guessing most of that was injected from all of the Ole Miss and Mississippi State transfers.

UNCC, Coastal, and App were all bad losses, but funny enough, happened in different ways.
UNCC was a complete disaster. There definitely was a sense of belittling an opponent who was a 20 points underdog. Everyone in the building thought that was going to be a blowout win all week. Charlotte was winless and desperate, came in with an attitude. The difference was a missed extra point due to lack of concentration. Unacceptable loss.
Vs Coastal, injuries were just too much to overcome. we had young depth guys thrusted into the game and made mental mistakes. Especially when the 3/5 top OLs are out, that's a disaster for a team built on running the ball. Running north-south sets up everything in this offense, and depth OL showed why they're not starting.
Vs App, as I understand it through the grapevine, the truth is somewhere between App started executing better in the second half, and GSU stopped bringing physicality & lost the mental edge in the extreme cold in 20s at 3000+ elevation. We didn't even bring heaters because Shawn Elliott thought "real men" can tough out the coldness. He wore a polo to prove a point, but freezing weather is freezing weather. Science says extreme coldness makes brains foggy when you're not used to living in that environment.

As a humanitarian, I have to hope USM beats my Panthers.
Otherwise, I fear what Eagleyed might do to himself. The very idea of losing to a team that lost to Charlotte is too dangerous to put into existence.

There is also an Arkansas transfer and a Memphis transfer, but more importantly is that it's just the type of practices that Coach Hall runs now that he has a full roster of D1 players. It helps that this group of players has spent over a year learning the new culture with this staff and in this strength and conditioning program.

I was at the Appy game. I was not cold in the stands. I can't imagine the players were all that cold on the field.

I'd just look at it as a redemption arc for Georgia State that hopefully leads to a decent ooc win/lose for them next year. I hope your fans come and enjoy from free food and good tailgating at our campus and have a great day. Well not too great of a day...
If I were to put odds at the win % for us I'd put them at 80%. Though a lot of USM fans are putting a good amount of respect for you team. Good luck hoping for a injury free game and if you do manage to win away at our place I'll be the first to congratulate you.

Every game except one has been difficult for us. I don’t expect this one to be any different form all except the Northwestern State game.

It wasn't in the 20's. It was in the 30's.

If it is running the ball that you must do to win, then I have a good feeling about this game. Our d-line is really good. And they are 10 deep. You will probably have to throw the ball to beat us. Or we turn the ball over to much and lose.

It looks like rain in Hattiesburg on Saturday. I wonder how much that may affect passing game, turnovers, etc.

I agree. We haven't gotten on the hump yet. USM could lose to any conference team on our schedule and I wouldn't be surprised. Next year we should be a top 4 team in this conference.

Our D is very good against the run. Would be cool to see them up against one of the academies in a bowl game this year.

Raining pretty good here in Hattiesburg this morning. According to the weather forecast, it should stop around the 2 pm game time.

I think we should be a run-heavy offense at this point anyway.

Run on third and 10 up the middle? I mean ya Wilcke isn't playing good, but at least try the outside or something.
