Is there a "prize" money incentive that comes with the cup? Or is it more of just a "bragging rights" of who had the best overall department for the year?

Interesting that three of the top four are recent additions. The conference did a great job with their selections, and I'm not just saying that because I'm a JMU fan and we finally got out of the CAA. I really like the idea of this competition. Do the schools actually get a version of the trophy to display or is it like the Stanley Cup getting passed around from year to year?

No doubt. Belt leadership did a good job of picking up teams who were outliers in lesser conferences and not just chasing markets.

Really was the perfect opportunity for both sides in all four additions.

The spring sports will mix it up some. Nice job by JMU to date, but TBH their spring overall aren't looking that strong though we're not in conference play so I guess you can't go by record.

On the other hand Georgia Southern has no chance to win this thing but will likely move up several places in the end.

Baseball is gonna hurt us a lot. The jury is still out on softball, but it's a very young team that I pretty much expect to show mixed results this year and hopefully become a much stronger team throughout the season and each of the next few years.

I don't really know what to expect from the other sports, seems likely they'll be the deciding factor in whether or not we stay on top. However it shakes out, gotta be happy with our performances to this point.

RE: 2022-2023 Bubas Cup Standings
Yeah, I think softball will do just fine. We are not where we were two years ago, but our poor rpi is due to our schedule and not so much as on-field results. We are 5-3 against the P5, roughly .500 against the top 100, and only have one really bad loss. However, we have only played one or two teams in the 120 to 200 range and a ton against the bottom of the league so we lose ground even when we win.

Baseball... if we could trade WLAX for baseball in these standings, yeah, that would be great.

The biggest downfall will be the fact we don't have men's track and field anymore, and it's too bad. We have sent people to the Olympics, but got rid of the sports to stay Title IX compliant.

I think South Alabama is going to prevail, JMU has at least one less sport and our spring teams on a whole not keeping up.

May have already been discussed, is there an actual "cup", and who is "Bubba"?
