No, and I seriously doubt he would be a legitimate candidate for any school in the FBS. That's why it's baffling that there are still a number of fans on FB and Twitter advocating for him. Do they even care about the future of UAB football? Saw a post a while back on Twitter that said we have fans that care more about certain people than they do our program and I have to agree.

I do think that there is a surprise candidate that NO ONE has mentioned. He could be a statement hire. Stay tuned, next week falls in line with Ingram's time line.
If it's Fuente, color me unimpressed. If it's a USFL guy, we should just keep BV and force him to hire a dynamic OC and no longer call plays. It isn't worth it. (again I am not arguing with any of you) Oh and Dennis Dodd is guessing. He might end up being right but he is guessing. ;-)
No matter who we select, I'll support because I have skin in the game and this is OUR program. Just like I have supported this season when some have jumped ship.
I'm 50/50 on Fuente, yes he didn't do great at VT but he didn't have a losing record either. He's not the biggest splash name hire, but he was also Gary Patterson's Co-OC when they went undefeated and Rose Bowl champs in 2010.
Doug Gottlieb did a 3 part podcast with him earlier this month. I listened to Part 2 (TCU years) and Part 3 (Memphis and VT). Seems like he didn't realize how north VT was. Said it seems like a Southern school but there were more Northern students than Southern. May have been a bad cultural fit for a Texas guy.
Give it a listen and see how y'all feel about him.

I’m not sold on Fuente at all. His best season was 10-3 and one of the only times the American champ didn’t make a NY6 bowl. His next season they finished third in their division in the American. I’ll excuse the two non bowl eligible seasons because he was cleaning up previous mess. But by year 4 he went 9-3. I just don’t think he’s going to perform near what the expectations are

RE: Possible football candidates
The article mentions talking to FCS coaches. I wonder if KC Keeler from Sam Houston was interviewed:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/K._C._Keeler
Also wondering if Hatcher has been interviewed. Samford went undefeated in FCS play this year and are the #6 overall team in the FCS playoffs.

They said 2021 FCS coaches not 2022, Cignetti was 2021 FCS…

If Skippy is in the drivers seat, it probably means nobody any good wanted the job. Hatcher has always had a good passing attack, but has lacked good defense and a running game.

Skip would be a major buzzkill. If that's the best we can do I'd probably rather just keep BV.

He never won a CUSA title correct? I think he was only 1st in the West 3 times and once was tied with UAB.
If he gets the job then can people vote no confidence in Ingram?
Keep him as the Stallions coach though, just not UAB.

He was 6-1 in bowl games at Louisiana Tech, and some of those wins were impressive (Illinois, Navy, SMU, Hawaii, and Miami).

If Skip is seriously being considered that tells me that someone is trying to micromanage “fiscul sponsibility”. You can probably get him on the cheap because there’s not a lot of demand.
I think I’d rather have BV with a dedicated OC. BV can recruit and clearly can win the locker room

2008 and 2009. He struggled at South Florida, where he only lasted three seasons.

So has everyone else at south Florida since; the issues down there are more than the coach. He also beat Notre Dame while he was at USF.
