He's 21-14 in the MAC since the Conference championship. That's not mediocre W_L
performance. No off field problems, players to the NFL, GPA above 3.0. Most D-1 schools would love to have that performance. To many here have salary envy! He's compensated fairly in my view.

while the top paid coach in MAC and can't even get to the MACC????

I feel like I may have missed on game somewhere, but I compiled a few more stats, since Candle's MACC in 2017.

He's 13-2 against MAC Teams with a losing conference record.
He's 4-3 against MAC Teams with a .500 conference record.
He's 3-10 against MAC Teams with a winning record.

The last time he beat a MAC school with a winning record was on 11/5/2019 against Kent State

Maybe the devil's in the details? #1 on balance but how about by position? It would be fun to examine that data.

If I had a pick between #1 Skills and #2 line and #1 line and #2 skills, I've always believed the game starts on the lines.

Toledo's recruiting ranking maybe mis-leading. I would like to know how close are the # 2, 3, 4th team to UT ?

HS prospect rankings are very much an uncertain mess, but at least that mess crosses all programs and players, and under a flawed and overrated system, UT at least has been at or near top of annual recruit class rankings

6th in 2022. Positions of need is more important than stacking at positions we have depth at. Oline class next year looks pretty good.

247 now adjusts after transfers and such. We did not win 2020 originally.

The craziest thing was 2009 thru 2013 ratings at how poor NIU did. Often bottom 3, yet they coached up them boys to dominate us and the rest of the MAC. BG also capitalized on a lot of transfers with Babers from 2013-2015 before those ratings were readjusted.

Really caring about 82.7 and 81.1 and 80.6 is a fan thing. Seperation is few and far between the 80th best WR and 63rd best TE in a class.

Being at or near the top in the MAC does correlate to success in a way. Who has been close to us? Miami, WMU, CMU, UB. Those programs have been up and down like crazy.

Point is with recruiting, returning players, and coaching, following the MACC 2017 season, surely there has been reasonable expectations from Rocket Nation that team would have gotten back to MACC game since, but mid to late season failures in MAC schedule each season has destroyed that potential opportunity, 7 win seasons and bowl loss does not seem like a great season or matches potential.
