The Razorbacks opened off the 2003 baseball season with a 9-5 victory over the Creighton Bluejays at Baum Stadium, the first victory for new head baseball coach Dave Van Horn, taking over for Norm DeBriyn, who had been the UA head coach for 33 seasons.

Leading the way offensively was 2B Scott Bridges, who was 3-5 with a single, a double, and a triple. The Razorbacks had 11 hits on the day. Jarret Gardner picked up his first victory of the season (1-0) by going 5.2 innings, retiring the first 15 batters of the game and allowing 2 runs on 3 hits.

The Razorbacks face the Eastern Illinois Panthers in a 3-game series starting today. Clint Brannon will pitch today, Scott Roehl on Saturday, and Gardner again will pitch on Sunday. '
