2022 Football Week 9 vs Balls Tate
Some Tuesday night MACtion at Dix and on ESPNU. We’re 3-5 and they’re 4-4. Not sure Schlee is back, also not sure they’ve updated our 2-deep in the game notes since the season started. We’ve actually won 12 straight home games which is a rarity in our programs history. Also surprised we’re pretty good on the weeknight games under Lewis, 8-4 total and 7-2 since 2019.

I hate the term "must win", but this IS one.

One positive about Schlee being out. Without a running QB in there the Akron game may be the first time I remember a Sean Lewis team not getting called for at least one ineligible man down field. I'll take a couple of those and Schlee playing though.

I only see 4 QBs on the roster, and two are hurt. Wonder if they have converted any emergency QBs and got a basic package together for them.

Looks like there's 5 to me. After Schlee and Kargman I assume would be Galban then Ulatowski with Brewster injured.

I didn’t see Galban listed on the game notes roster but he’s on the 2-deep. He’s also on the website roster but there’s no bio or picture which makes it seem like he never made it to campus, but it seems he traveled to Georgia. Regardless, I think we’ll need to dip into the portal to find an experienced QB for depth.

I think Galban is on the team. His Twitter picture is him in a Kent jersey.

Galban was a late addition, not signing until August. Sometimes the website is painfully slow in updating bios.

You know a team lacks media coverage when we're not entirely sure if the guy that was likely our backup QB last week is on the team. The only time I've seen coverage worse than this is... anytime an opposing QB throws a ball.

Media coverage has always been poor, and it has only gotten worse. Staff cutbacks at all the traditional sports media has dictated dropping or eliminating coverage of things they used to at least give minimal coverage, and instead they give saturation coverage to areas they feel that most consumers want, i.e. in football Ohio State, Browns, and local high schools. Thank God the Record-Courier assigns Allen Moff to cover Kent State sports. I grew up in Canton and Canton is still the nearest city from where I live, so I subscribe to the Canton Repository. Surprisingly, they sometimes pick up Moff's columns, but the coverage they give to Ohio States sports, especially football, is such that you'd think it is a Columbus paper.

I know we all complain about how Ohio St. gets more coverage than Kent but if a vote were taken who do you think would win in a landslide. When the last local reporters quit (or more likely get laid off) from the USA Today family of newspapers we will be lucky to get complete Guardian and Browns coverage in newspapers or even on their websites. I’m pretty sure when people like Terry Pluto, Paul Hoynes and Mary Kay Cabot retire (the first two will go pretty soon I’m afraid) we will be an order of magnitude worse than today.

I believe the Columbus Dispatch, ABJ, Record Courier and Canton Repository are the same paper.

"Landslide" doesn't describe what the vote would be! I'd be afraid to see the results of a vote among KSU alumni, or even current students. This is outside the scope of the topic and even this site, but the decline of the traditional news media (TV, radio, newspapers and news magazines) over the last several decades really saddens me.

I see we opened as a 4 point favorite since we’re home. I’d guess that line would swing quite a bit depending on if Schlee is starting or not.

Ain't that the truth.

I'm optimistic about tonight. We do well on weeknight games. It should be good weather. Good call on the taco promo tonight too.
