I think this AD has an expectation of results. Appreciate the willingness to make a change. Especially after the significant investment in facilities for the program lately.

How did we go from a championship program to damn near dead last in the MAC with the same coach? Good to see the new AD be progressive - this season was horrendous.

He had one season where he was second in the MAC West and won the conference tournament. Other than that, his teams weren't very good.

RE: Soccer Coach Fired
Not unexpected. This season was a disaster and I couldn't watch after a while. In MAC play they seemed to either get dominated and blown out, or play well but then find a way to lose or lose a lead late on a bad goal. Last season looked like they had turned the corner and were one or two pieces away from challenging for the MAC title, which makes this season so much stranger. Ottenson, the transfer from WMU who fell into UT's lap, literally scored half the goals for the team and often looked like the only player on the field with any speed and skill. Imagine if they had not had her.
I give Buchholtz credit for restoring integrity to the program and helping bring the previous coach's misdeeds to life, but he just did not seem to ever get enough good recruits. He had several that looked like world-beaters as freshmen but never really developed more after that, and didn't have the supporting cast around them to shine. The team in recent years always looked slow and unskilled to me, in comparison to their MAC opponents, even when they won.
Hope the new AD can find a good replacement that can return the team to past glory, and who is also a good person. If folks have not heard, there are now accusations of abuse about the former BG coach, who is now at Iowa State and there are horrific stories coming out of the NWSL (US professional women's league) of abuse, sexual harassment, sexual assault and team & league management that covered it all up for years. It appears there is a lot of slime in the US women's soccer coaching ranks, so the AD needs to steer clear of all that business. At least Buchholz was not one of those coaches.
