25-8 with the set ending with back-to-back blocks.

Slow start, but total domination the final 1 1/2 sets.

Rice hit a season-high .461 with only 3 attack errors vs. 44 kills

Courtley: 13 kills (.500), 5 digs, 3 blocks
Adekunle: 9 kills (.750), 1 ace, 4 blocks
Bichelmeyer: 9 kills (.450), 2 blocks
McCardell: 6 assists, 2 aces, 16 digs (Mansfield added 9 digs)

Strong effort-- just what the doctor ordered. We'll need to carry this effort over to the match against a quality UTEP squad on Sunday. At least we're home this time round.

"It was great to see us play such a clean offensive match. The focus was there from the start to the finish. We had contributions from so many attackers and executed some things as a team that we have been working on all week. It will be a quick turnaround for a tough UTEP team on Sunday, so we need all of Rice nation to show up and be loud!!"

UTEP is a very good serving team, averaging 2.0 aces per set. They had 14 aces in their 5 set loss to UNT on Friday (5th set was 17-19), with one player having 5 aces.
