I'm only basing this off of Burno's comments the other day, but the reason I don't see him starting right now (or ever, tbh) is Burno never even mentioned him in the press conference. To be honest, it took a long time for him to even mention Niederhäuser, so I was a little surprised he's not excited about a 6'10 freshman who plays for the Swiss national team.

The only "big" other than Crump he talked about was Amos but he said they're taking it slow with him and the other freshmen because they have a learning curve and you want them to learn at the pace that is right for them.

I think Durosinmi will play minutes though for the reasons you mentioned and they're going to need someone to absorb fouls on the inside. He's perfectly built for that. But as far as "playing" for the Bonnies last year, I'd say most of his experience came in the form of practice as he only got into 9 games and averaged just 4 minutes each game and that is really inflated because he played 22 (out of his 36) minutes in 1 game (and he scored a whopping 2 points in those 22 minutes in a game they lost by 23 points). It's not nothing for sure, but it's not all that much.

Btw, those 2 points he scored in that one game? Yeah, that was the only points he scored the entire season. This kid is a post presence. That's it. Defense and rebounding. If we can get that, and he's not a liability, then I think the acquisition is fine.

I just hope he's more competent than Osten was last year.

Agree with what you said, BR. The only reason I brought up about his past Bonnie experience was that beside the returning 5 players from last year, Durosinmi was The only other player on the teams that has played against and practiced with Div1 players. For the rest of the team, Div 1 competition will be a new facet for them.

Oh, I definitely agree and was hoping Burno would bring in someone (hell, almost anyone) who had any kind of age and/or experience in the post. There was a JUCO guy who looked like a damn middle aged man who got an offer and ended up going elsewhere. I forget his name. His stats suggested he could score a little (and I do mean a little) at the JUCO level but everything else (video, etc) suggested this dude was no nonsense inside and he sure as hell looked it too.

I really wanted him. Durosinmi kind of looks similar. He's big and strong and kind of looks tough. He also has a year of playing with D1 guys in practice every day who I'm sure played physical with him. My hopes are low for him but he could be valuable to the team in ways we never see. Like in practice or by absorbing fouls and helping to protect the rim, which is something Burno has talked about with this team. He mentioned bringing in rim protectors and guys like Durosinmi, Niederhäuser, Amos and Crump (and...the big practice body of Ibarguen) should put guys on the floor who can do that to different levels of competence.

From everything I can interpret from Burno, I think they worked on Crump to be better with this. Last year, he put on significant muscle and size and Burno defnitely liked playing him more in the inside than outside. Personally, when Crump ever did anything with the ball on the outside, he infuriated me but last year, doing more things on the inside, he looked like he was much less mistake prone and could use his length to his advantage.

Burno called Crump a "senior" in the press conference but in the HoT interview, Crump said he has "one more year" and I took that as he was talking about after this year. And I'm sure Brandon did as well because he referred to Crump as a junior.

If Crump does in fact have 2 years left of eligibility remaning, he might actually develop into a pretty decent player now that Burno figured out how to use him.

With that said, I do believe Crump still thinks he's a guard because he said he models his game after Penny Hardaway. On one hand, I shake my head. But on the other hand, I'm actually pleased to see that a young fella like Anthony Crump actually knows what kind of player Penny was when he played.

Btw, Burno is a bit of a hard listen to on a press conference. It's pretty obvious he doesn't like attention and looks uncomfortable and fidgets a lot. He even misspoke pretty badly at least twice in the press conference. I forget the other one but the first one that stood out to me was he said, "Zion Williams". He had just spoken about Keshawn and then started talking about Zion and I think the name was just in his head but no one pointed it out and he didn't realize he said it.

I think they should have warm-up shirts made with their names on the back and on the back of Keshawn's it says Williams and on the back of Zion's it says "Williams".

But Burno seems like the type of guy who probably feels really bad about the mistake and, if it's been brought to his attention, he's probably genuinely apologized to Zion about it and will never forgive himself.

I enjoy your tidbits of info, BR. Crump's new nickname should be the "Everlasting Gobstopper".

I will never understand how NW, DePaul, UIC, NIU can not one have a very good season each year. Loyola was irrelevant for years until recently. I will give them some credit.

Probably the same way there's no powerhouse teams located in NYC. With the talent that grows up in New York, teams like St. John's and even the smaller schools all over the city (Fordham, Manhattan, St. Francis, etc), they seem to miss out a lot like the local Chicago schools.

I think just like any big city, the high profile guys are almost always looking to go to the best program and aren't concerned with playing at home. Then, once you get down to the 3* guys, who really cares? Those guys (and the 2* guys) are all fungible and can be had from almost anywhere. A 2 or 3* guy from Chicago isn't going to be any better playing for UIC than he is playing for Southwest Missouri State.

I get the connection thing, and there's probably some value into having some kind of connection to the area high schools in case something pops your way (Amos may be that pop if Burno can keep him in the program). So, I get the effort. But I think too much emphasis is put on it much of the time.

Although, if you're looking for program stability, I wonder if there's any kind of metric that would show that having a role player/non-star from a local high school is more likely to stick around than someone who comes from states away. It's possible there's a draw for the kid to stick around if his family and friends can come around from time to time and possibly a draw to get closer to home if things are tough.

I'm not sure and it probably comes down to the individual and, in that case, worrying about it isn't worth it.

Too many unknowns. Not expecting much. I hope that someone exceeds expectations and shows a lot of potential.

I am expecting sitting in the Convo with 20 other fans, staring at my phone, talking to the people around me, falling asleep, sniffing an empty hot dog wrapper, leaving the Convo and going out to dinner. Typical game day for me.

How excited is everyone about our opening home game against UIS on Monday? I'm getting pretty excited. I'll get to the Convo early, grab a hot dog or two (if available), buy a program/scorecard (if available), kick the squatter out of my seat, and enjoy an evening of stirring, thrilling basketball filled with superb shooting and rebounding! 02-13-banana

Has the seat stealer always been the same person? Or are there just a bunch of confused people who always think your seat is their seat.

Different people but always guys. If a young lady were to sit in my seat, I would excuse her and tell her to stay while sitting on my lap. But, alas , no such luck. Just fat jerks.

By sitting on your lap, she could always get a "boost" if there was someone tall in front of you.

The bright side of a fat jerk siting in your seat is the pressure might have moved the armreast a bit thus your have a slightly wider seat.
