There doesn't seem to be many votes separating 1-3, who the voters seem to believe are way ahead of the rest of the pack. Which of the remaining 9 teams do you guys think has the best chance of emerging as a contender?

Overall seems reasonable to me. I might have EMU a little higher, but we’ll see how it plays out. I’d be interested in seeing the voting to see who just missed second team.

I think CMU should be higher. They played us tough twice with their length last season.
EMUs Noah F. kind of got snubbed. He can really score as a high volume guy, but it may not stylistically work with Bates. That EMU team could be a dumpster fire with all the wrong press, or gel and have 2 of the best scorers in the league? Middle is where you have to slot them if you dont want to be too wrong.

overlooked are the other EMU transfers. Acuff, ex-Duquense starter, is a pretty solid combo guard who doesn't hunt shots and might balance out the farrkhan-bates backcourt. geeter is a point forward type who I think fits in well there. EMU could be really good if it clicks, but might take them a couple months.

In the exhibition against GVSU last night Geeter put up 11 points and 13 boards with only 2 fouls. Not a bad collegiate debut.

27 points for Emoni, 22 for Farrakhan, and 15 for Acuff. They were a little discombobulated early but worked out some bugs.

Pono, you and I are on the same page. Based on what Coach Heath has said Emoni fitting in great; however, we will see how the team handles adversity. I expect an up and down out of conference as the team establishes their roles and gels during the MAC season. Geeter could be the missing piece if he has an A MAC freshman of the year season. I believe EMU will be top 4 in the conference prior to MAC tournament. I would say EMU would be the conference favorite if we had a decent center who could rebound and play defense - a missing piece this year.

Thank you! I wince uncontrollably every time I hear MAC Conference!

After last season, Real GM listed Noah as statistically the best freshman PG in the nation. Shot 41 percent on three's. Has potential to be best PG in the nation this season.

Over the summer, Noah has tweaked his game, and taken it to a new and high level.

if he can be the best pg in the MAC that will be impressive. RayJ Dennis, Sincere Carry, and Boopie Miller will have something to say about that.

I'd say the league outlook is pretty clear:

Toledo, Kent, Akron all should be as good or better than they were last year and will be upper division teams unless hit hard by injuries.

CMU is the most underrated team. They were as good as anyone down the stretch last year and got a pretty big time shooting guard recruit to play next to Miller. CMU is the one team that could be way better than expected, imo.

EMU will be competing for the league title if they stay healthy, but they are not deep and may be vulnerable to injury, fouls, slumps.

Ohio has a lot of older guys and experience if they can put it together.

I'd put money on the title coming from that group above. Miami, BSU and Buffalo could all exceed some expectations and be pretty good, but would be surprised if any have a great year.

NIU, WMU and BG are the clear bottom group.

I’ve looked over a few of the rosters specifically Kent, Toledo, Akron, CMU, WMU and Toledo.

On paper - this is where I see the MAC shaking out this year before conference season begins. Then I’ll reevaluate these teams after the OOC schedule for my MAC prediction.

1) Kent - very strong starting 5 with great offensive and defensive players.
2) I see no clear two in the conference but would put Toledo and Akron here only due to experience. I like Toledo’s transfer Cochran but losing Ryan will hurt.

Akron plays tough D and D wins championships but their offense was woeful last season.
3) EMU, BSU, CMU, Ohio and WMU are all ranked in this clump.

I believe EMU may have the top 3 point shooting team in the league but our weakness will be low post scoring and low post defense. If we can strengthen our defense at all positions then I like our chances in this clump of teams.

Ohio - this team will have the Best low post scoring offense and low post defense. If they develop some shooters, they will be tough and when they miss their shots, their bigs will gobble up rebounds and have a very high two point fg percentage.

CMU - I like their coach, I like Boopie Miller and their transfers. They improved down the stretch and beat out EMU due to our untimely Covid19 issues. Keep an eye on CMU.

BSU - tough in the post and some quality guards. Sparks may be the best PF in the conference but their depth is questionable. A team that will improve as the season progresses.

WMU - talented guards but I see them being close to a 0.500 team and no better but they will go as their nice shooting guards go.
