Did you sleep through the MAC Championship last year? Those weren't Kill, Doreen or Novaks players hauling the trophy back home last year. They were HAMMOCK's. His players, coaches and play callers.

What I think we are finding out was that championship was because of a couple transfers and a couple Carey recruits and two of hammocks recruits. The rest of the team only performed average and those were the Hammock recruits.

Hams brought in the transfers. THEY COUNT toward his recruiting classes. The Carry recruits wee fine but not the stars in last year's team.

3/5th of the o-line were Carey recruits. 1 graduated and 1 is hurt and the line sucks now. Richie and Tucker are both Carey recruits. Soraghan and Tewes are Carey recruits. None of Hammocks recruits are good enough to fill in these spots when his transfers go down. Had to use Carey guys. The point is Hammock has almost zero ability to identify HS talent. That’s recruiting. Signing guys who have already played 3 or 4 years of FBS football doesn’t make you a good recruiter. Hammock is going to need to hit home runs with every transfer year after year bc transfer are only going to have 1 or maybe 2 years of eligibility. He has developed 2 recruits to being quality starters.. Rudolph and Waylee. That’s in 4 years.

The defense is ALL hammock recruits except their best D-end, Kennedy who’s a Carey recruit and transfer IGM. Also White at safety when he starts. You see what a unit of mostly Hammock HS recruits gets you? One of the worst defenses in the country.

Well he’s not wrong unless 14 is too high

At what point in the last 25 years do you think Miami of Florida should have stopped being a disappointment and the pollsters quit putting them at about #15 in the preseason rankings?

We have to adapt to the changes in the game, which includes recruiting in the transfer market. You will see fewer and fewer 4-5 year guys. Think more 1-2 year guys eventually. It’s actually a really efficient way of filling a specific need, but it isn’t a lot of time to learn a system.

And plenty of mac teams will be getting just as good of transfers AND also getting good HS recruits. Hammock is only getting 1 of those.

Sadly this is all true. Hammock was supposed to be an incredible recruiter and for whatever reason people believe that he is. He’s no better than Carey at recruiting. What is shocking is the defense is all his recruits who have played together for 3 YEARS now and are bottom of the country. Outside of Running back he hasn’t shown he could recruit any other position out of high school.

52-30 versus 16-25 pretty much sums it up.

I don't think this staff is doing a good enough job recruiting in-state. Particularly Chicago, the South Suburbs, and the East St. Louis Area.

I was trying not to be too pessimistic, but yea...

And maybe it doesn't matter to recruits but, if you're mostly getting attention from MAC schools, wouldn't you be more inclined to go to a MAC school that wins conference championships, and beats the occasional P5 team, instead of the others? It should be easier for Hammock to recruit vs. his competitors in the MAC.

Another edit: also, if you're so intent on running the ball and not really having any balance on offense, that has to make it difficult to attract QBs that can actually pass. And it doesn't appear that Hammock likes QBs that are dual option.

Not that it matters but Lynch has to be rethinking why he came to NIU. He is duel threat. My gripe is why a true freshman can get pass plays but not Lynch. If an injury say it. Hammock owes us nothing regarding injuries but given the state of the team this year what benefit to hide it if that is the case. But if the bias is towards a true passing QB then why would Lynch stay any longer? Went from Bowers to Lombardi now pinning future hope on this freshman. Seems like a reach.

This third string QB situation is just one of the weirder coaching moves I can remember. And if I'm Lynch I probably go the Santacatarina route and try to get an FCS gig. There's no reason for him to stay here and play QB if you're not allowed to throw at all. Does anyone remember Cremiscoli's name being mentioned by dog pound reporters during practices before the season? How do you jump from #6 to #3 all of a sudden? Kid does have a nice arm. It's just hard to judge it vs Lomax since Lomax is not allowed to play. It's also like trying to compare Lynch's running vs Fletcher's.

IDK. Weird stuff. Weird season. Feels like a weird future.

They're working on the old Wisconsin model and more recent Stanford model. Heavier power run based teams with some success of getting QBs and WRs in the NFL. Rocky works in the system and the jury is out on all the young QBs. Outside of Rudolph they've so far missed on WR recruits and there are no difference maker TEs/H-Backs that have frequently shown up in those programs which is super evident now that Ratkovich is gone.

Lynch’s mom posted on the huskie Facebook page saying Justin isn’t hurt. So yes it’s a strange situation and looks like coaching staff doesn’t trust him to throw. Which is bizarre because at this point you have NOTHING TO LOSE to see if he can develop passing in the game

He’s no better than Carey at recruiting. What is shocking is the defense is all his recruits who have played together for 3 YEARS now and are bottom of the country. Outside of Running back he hasn’t shown he could recruit any other position out of high school.

At this point, I don't even know if he's as good as Carey at recruiting.

52-30 versus 16-25 pretty much sums it up.

Yea and how is that model working for either of those teams. Adapt or die. Right now need to be able to sling the ball or have a mobile QB.

Just get a feeling hammock is stuck in the old ways of all the old college teams he was apart of or coached at.

Stanford has given up 30 in 16 of their last 36 games and 40+ in a lot of those games. They had 8 wins or better from 09-18. 10+ 6 times, 9+ 8 times. I wouldn't worry so much about the offense here. Particularly this season and last. NIU has given up 34 points per game in the 3 + years this staff has been here. We're curently 56th in scoring in FBS but 114th in points allowed. We won the MAC last year with a negative point differential.

Both sides of the team are so sketchy, hard to watch the last few games. QB situation is a headscratcher. If you suck playing the game you need something I guess.
