Looking forward to kicking back and burying myself on my couch with the remote control in one hand and a fat hot dog in the other and watching the beginning of the game. After CMU stops the runs and builds up their score, I have a bunch of Murder She Wrote and Lawrence Welk shows that I need to get through.

Beating a dead horse, but this season doomed by injuries to key players, mixed in with some questionable coaching decisions. To finish it off, virtually every 50/50 type situation has not gone our way. A perfect storm has creating a crummy year thus far.

Let’s now run the table and grab a Bowl win & on to next year!

This season was also marred by coach Hammock's inability to recruit and develop talent. On several occasions he has stated that he was building the program "the right way" because of the excellent depth on the team. Sadly this has not proven to be the case.

This is most apparent at the QB position. So far Hampton has been OK at best and not a guy that is going to be a difference maker. Unless Lynch is battling an injury that we do not know about he seems to have a noodle for an arm and it is no wonder they do not want him throwing the ball. If Lynch is better than the guys behind him we are in bad shape at the team's most important offensive position.

The receiver depth is weak and the Oline which was supposed to be the strength of the team has not developed significantly since last season.

I like coach Hammock and had high hopes for his ability to lead the team because he bleeds cardinal and black and he appears to run a clean program with an appropriate emphasis on academics. I do hope that he gets things turned around but my confidence in his ability to lead our program has been shaken.

One more comment ... he needs to stop going for it on fourth down unless the team has crossed the 50 yard line or it is the final drive of a game in a do or die situation.

We forget that it's incredibly hard to win games with a backup or a backup backup quarterback. Just look at Miami Ohio when Gabbert went down.

We say Hammock should have developed these guys a lot more. But these kids are still and incredibly young roster, going up against more developed rosters around the MAC.

Other than the Toledo game, we hung around with every opponent that we faced this year. I know losing sucks, but let's see what happens when all the pieces are here.

Rocky out is a big deal. So is Thornton, Rudolph, Cox, Joiner, Rodgers and Gandy....

This year is lost, but only on development. We are a season removed from MAC champs. And that on a Daewoo budget.

Our top 3 RBs are out so I expect us to struggle mightily. We have a new QB too.

There's a little - live by the sword, die by the sword - with Hammocks QB strategy. He has counted on and started a transfer all 4 years to start the season. There's a reason we are so ill equipped when we need a back up QB

Should be a fun game, George. We have been decimated by injuries, too. Start drinking now.

With our starting QB down, we have no passing game, so expect nothing but runs and lots of 3-and-outs. Defense has improved a bit, while offense has declined a bit.

Again....start drinking now.

Just imagine Bowers behind an upperclassman offensive line. He would have had so much room to find Richie open.

1. Our D has been better materially better the last 2 weeks. Having at least an average D is an absolute must for any future sustained success, including being able to win OOC games and even gasp… bowl games.

2. We have a good offensive scheme when we decide to run it or have a QB capable of doing that.

3. We still have the best running game MAC, and one of best in G5. The partial/mostly success in that area this year is against stacked boxes with teams often knowing that’s the play.

4. I remain a Hammock supporter (doesn’t mean I agree with everything, very far from lol) and think he turns it back around in future.

Probably will get battered for posting anything positive, but whatever.

Happy Halloween!

Amen. Spot on brother. Well said. I second These comments

Carey was the most unfairly treated coach by fans in NIU history.

It is 72 degrees 2 hours before kickoff...in November. There's never been more perfect weather for MACtion tonight. I'm speeding out right after work.

He is so bad and should have been benched after South Alabama. Bauer the backup, is athletic and has looked better by a long shot. McElwain should be fired for continuously trotting Richardson out there.

Love ya 7 but the issue with Rod was his abrasive personality and that fake punt vs Duke in the bowl in Detroit.

Just having fun I’m drinking ?

May be time for a new video board, or at least the LCD board below the main video board has lost more than half the closed captioning capability.

Did we purchase the extended warranty plan???
