College Basketball Coaching Carousel: 22-23 Season
We've got our first coaching change of the new season.

Steve Masiello is out as coach of the Manhattan Jaspers.

It's gotta be bad if you haven't played a game yet and you get fired. Must be an interesting story.

He should pull a Costanza and just show up for work tomorrow like nothing happened.

From the story linked on the main board, he had a bad relationship with the AD and he was heading into the last year of his contract, so why not avoid the Christmas rush since there was next to no chance, barring a run in the NCAAs that wasn’t likely for a guy with seven straight losing seasons, of him getting renewed.

I never understood the point of keeping a head coach with only a couple of years left on his contract. That immediately becomes a target for every coaching recruiting against them. Hey, Coach Collins over at USC-South of the Border can sell you anything he wants but what makes you think he’ll even be there in two years? Just cut the cord and let everyone move on with their lives.
