The person/s who do the highlight videos does a great job and Helmer/Rubick are great. All others are well....

Sometimes it seems like this board's understanding/expectation vs. the reality of the athletic media relations situation at Eastern don't match up.

By my count, there are 22 edited videos, each 6-12 minutes long. That isn't something you shoot one day and have finished the next. You want non-stop coverage of football and men's basketball, yet there are five other sports that are actively in their seasons, plus winter and spring sports competing in fall scrimmages. Those coaches/parents/fans want content too. AND that office is in charge of the ESPN and video board productions for every event.

The people in the EMU media relations office are working as many hours (and often times more) as any coaching staff in the department. They've consistently done more with less resources than their peers in the MAC, and are well-regarded by every office/broadcaster that ever speaks of them.

But sure. Instead of enjoying the new content and getting to know the team let's focus on when they came out.

I won't speak for Steve or for the rest of this board, but I think the general consensus from the board is we appreciate what they do. I know I've been critical a time or two, but I've seen what others do around the league, and short of a few places, I know we are quite well off.

Is it just me, or does EMU do a great job recruiting kickers?? When I watched the Maryland vs Michigan game, everyone seemed so impressed with Chad Ryland… and we just go ahead and replace him like Jesus Gomez without blinking an eye.

BTW, thanks for posting these videos. Really nice to get to know the players a bit.
It's still way to early, but it's possible that Lefty Gomez is better than Ryland. Ryland missed a few kicks early in his career. They're both good though.

I still think about the 2018 game vs NIU, when Chad missed a field goal by 3 yards. It would have won us the game and brought us to the MAC championship.

Dem, this is funny. NO ONE including myself said this isn't good work. You think that filming these 2 months ago and releasing them now is a smart move or good look? Wouldn't it make sense to release these before the season or in the beginning to generate more interest in our great players? Week 8 seems strange.

This whole victim, pity us because we don't have resources, etc has always been funny to me. That type of low expectation and low standards is why EMU has not succeeded. I love the recent conversations on this board about raising our standard. It's how you go from good to great.

I'm not sure the context for raising the standard.

Everything I see from EMU Sports Info is excellent and far better than I've seen elsewhere (I've seen some bad stuff).

I do not see this as a case of we can't keep up. Actually I think we are pace setters for this kind of stuff.

I do know sports info is pushed to get all of the media guides out. Lot of work.

Chad had the yips on short field goals in his first two seasons, he also missed a close one in OT vs WMU. He beat out the incumbent Fricano for the job and quite frankly I was pissed at the time as Pauly was automatic on the shorties. Then, of course, Ryland matured, hit the closies as well as making them for 50 yard plus. He may have NFL potential.

I suspect that Gomez may not have Ryland's long leg as Pohl is handling kickoff duties. He, however, has been awfully solid.

Lefty Gomez hit from 55. It's would've been good from 65. He's got leg.
