-Evans, Kline, and Ramirez are all listed as starters. They also were listed as starters last week and didn't play, but I have noticed that when a guy is injured they sometimes list them as a backup, for example Howie has been listed as the backup RG since being hurt. Drummond was also listed as a back up while he was injured, but wasn't listed as a starter before returning.

-Powell is listed as the starting QB, but of course he was last week as well.

So, not sure how much (if anything) we can read into any of that.

One thought I had about Kline and Ramirez was do we know they were injured? We all saw Evans get banged up against WMU and then was clearly hurt during the NIU game, I'm also fairly certain I saw him on the sideline at the Ball State game during the broadcast. I don't remember either of them getting hurt during the NIU game. Did anyone notice if Chase and Jose were at the game Saturday? If not I wonder if it was a COVID or discipline thing?
Ramirez did get banged up in the NIU game. He did go back into the game though.

Oh that is right, since he had gone back in I had forgotten about that. Hopefully nothing too serious.

RE: Game Week: Toledo
I think we all kind of know what Finn can do since he played against us last year and even before that since he's a Detroit guy, we know he's a very good player. I was looking up some info on their backup in case Finn can't play. Tucker Gleason is big kid, 6'3" 230 lbs. He is 6-13 for the year for 67 yards and a touchdown. He has rushed eight times for 20 yards. He hasn't played much this year, the most passes he has thrown in a game is six. It looks like academically he is a junior but eligibility-wise he is a freshman who played a bit last year. His career numbers are 11-22, 136 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT while rushing 9 times for 24 yards. So, basically not much we can tell based on limited date, other than he probably isn't much of a threat to run (like Finn is) however...

He was actually a fairly big (3-star on Rivals and 247) recruit out of Florida. He had offers from Cincinnati, Georgia, Duke, Illinois, Kentucky, UNC, Pitt, Virginia Tech...among others. He ended up at Georgia Tech his freshman year of 2020 (which is why he is still only a freshman), didn't play at all, and transferred to Toledo. Rivals had him listed as a pro-style QB, while 247 had him as a duel-threat, he apparently rushed for over 1,000 yards as a high school junior. Just based on how he looks and his size, he probably isn't a burner, but could be a running threat...maybe a Rocky Lombardi-type?

Ok, gametime tomorrow!

Biggest game of CC's tenure. Win and CC is proving he is taking the next step.

1. Defense has to play aggressive, early.

2. Not sure who will play at QB. Praying Evans is back

3. We need this to be a great environment. Hope the students show out.

Game Day!!

Biggest game of CC's tenure in my opinion. I say this because this is year 9. I mentioned in a previous thread se Keys to the game. Instead, here's 5 reasons why we SHOULD win

1. CC is in year 9. I put faith and stock in a coach who has been here this long and has been on both sides of the fence knowing what it takes to win and also the lessons of defeat.

2. We have a talented roster. We are loaded at WR, have a top 3 MAC Running back in Evans, upgraded linebackers and a good O-Line. We also will be getting back from injury this week.

4. We are at home.

5. Motivation. We have a lot of Seniors and Grad players who I think are motivated as hell to be in 1st place after this game. They know the stakes.....Lose and we are out. Win and we, for the 1st time in forever, control our destiny.

Very well said, and great points as well! It's simply is EMU contenders or pretenders? Everything you want is in our favor: 1) We're playing at home 2) This team has a ton of experience, many 4 and 5 year starters/players 3) A coach who has been here for NINE years 4) This game changes the entire believe/culture for EMU Football if we win 5) 1st place, and control our own destiny! 6) After this game many teams with losing records we play, let's shock the world and beat the team that historically is one of the best MAC programs, and always recruits at the top! Go Hurons/Eagles!

Agreed Glory. The team has done everything they can by giving themselves this opportunity. This has to be the biggest game for CC

Just to remind everyone we haven't done very well in home games. Based on past performances if we can stay close it would be nice

I would feel better if we lost last week to even our record to 2-2 but instead it happened with a victory. Unfortunately history has taught us we don’t have back to back good games. I think our DL is too young and one season away. I hope I’m wrong but we probably lose this game.

Agree with that. It's vital that EMU gets off to a good start. Score first and stop Toledo. Eastern cannot afford to get behind and spend the game playing catch-up.

HEAVY fog in the area this morning. It should clear out and be a pretty nice day but there may still be some lingering fog at kickoff.

Mid-50s on a sunny day. Not too shabby for late Oct.
