Toledo lost which makes next week's match far more interesting.

Biggest game at Rynearson since....? A win not only gets us bowl eligible but would put us in the driver seat for the MAC-west going into November.

Thinking about coming back into town for this one. What time do the parking lots open/tailgates get started for noon games?

Dequan Finn (UT's starting QB) left the game with an injury. I don't know his status.

He got a concussion. Questionable for next week.

I’m very jealous of all you who are going to be at this game. Hopefully the atmosphere will be “electric”.

The box score for the Ball St game showed Austin Smith was the sole QB. Is Powell hurt again? Does anyone know who will be QB for the Toledo game?

Biggest game since when? Great question in 1989 we started 5-0-1, and didn't win the MAC! I can't remember the last time, the 9th game in the season, if we won, we would be in 1st place with controlling our destiny!

I'm happy we won and also that Austin got another game experience. Did Austin play because Samson didn't? I say that because maybe he needed to play Austin who can run take Ball State honor the run knowing Samson wasn't playing. any thoughts?

From my POV Taylor should not see the field again because of sacks and TOs. Myself and another poster wrote this after the thumping by NIU last week. Time to see if Austin is the QB for next season or hit transfer portal. As CC indicated , winning TO battle is crucial to winning game. Perhaps Austin will not TO the ball as much, is more elusive to avoid sacks and his 50 rushing yards make him an actual RPO threat. He does throw the ball like a javelin as 79 indicated.

Disagree. I think EMU needs both QBs to play. Their skill sets are completely different. Force opponents to prepare for both. Remember how well Powell played at WMU? That type of performance may be needed in another game.

Arguably WMU is the worst team in the conference not sure how they beat Miami.

Wondering if Sterling Miles played yesterday? He had two personal fouls against him a few games ago and has he played since then?

That sucks. As a fan you kind of think to yourself "that would really help our team if he doesn't play" but you hate to see a guy go down like that, especially a local guy like Finn. Hopefully he is back soon. As their quarterback he is obviously their leading passer, but he is also their leading rusher, so that would be a huge (the biggest) piece of their offense out. It seems like their backup hasn't gotten a ton of playing time this year.

Our own injuries are going to be a huge for us. Being with out Kline, Ramirez, Howie, and Evans for the last few weeks and beating Ball State is one thing. Beating Toledo will be another. Hopefully we get at least a few of those guys back this week.

Totally agree Nickle. There were times when the offense sputtered yesterday because BSU loaded the box and the QB wasn’t a threat to throw downfield. It seems like the offense is limited to zone read, slants, bubbles, and screens when Austin is in there. Powell can stretch the field and keep Toledo off balance.

I cant do it. LOL. Alex Jewell just tweeted out 3 key notes for the upcoming Toledo game.

In EVERY one of the keys it mentions things like "for the 1st time..." I swear these guys are the dumbest.

Do they think it's a good look to keep mentioning the basement the program was in for so long?

It's laughable.

Powell's TD to INT ratio is horrible. Always has been. Smith can be factor with his legs. Powell not. To me Smith is one heck of an athlete with raw skills that just need refinement.

Dear emu79,
I agree with your assessment. Let's go with Smith the rest of the way. He would seem to be the quarterback for next year, so give hm the playing time.
