Women's tennis beat UB 4-3 today to go 9-0 and clinch a share of the MAC regular season title - UT's 1st in the history of the program!

One match left against winless BG.

Rocket men beat Buffalo 4-0 in the semi-finals today. They play the winner of WMU vs Ball State tomorrow at 1.

The ladies demolish BG 7-0 to finish the season a perfect 10-0 in the MAC, and take the #1 seed into the tournament.

Men are in a tough one against WMU in the tournament championship 1-1 so far, with 5 matches in play. UT leads in 3 and trails in 2.

Men are 17-5 & 8-2 MAC

Men and women's tennis teams rolling big time. Excellent.

Great stuff from our men yesterday, was keeping track throughout, still don't know how we won the doubles point, but credit the guys to fighting hard; Pawit was down 4-1 in his first set at one point, our 5 and 6 players came up big with victories over theirs, and we got it done. Pawit, for those who may not be as aware in the tennis world, might have by far the best chance of any current athlete at the University of Toledo to go pro, and play at a high level professionally. No guarantees but I don't think he's lost in 40+ matches. Hoping the women can get it done next weekend!

Men's tennis joins the women being nationally ranked this week. Men are #73, Women #69. (Computer rankings mean that thoroughly bashing a very bad BG team caused the women to drop in the rankings.)

UT sweeps Coach of the Year (Werner) and Player of the Year (Sornlaksup, who has won it 2 straight years now.)

Wetoszka also 1st team all-MAC, and Adam Kovac 2nd team.

Women's MAC awards announced and UT gets Coach-of-the-Year (Mauntler) and co-Player of the Year (Cassie Alcala). Alcala joined on 1st team by Sloane Teske. Shalani Tallamraju makes 2nd team.

Ridiculously, I had to go to the Miami website to get the complete results. The Toledo site doesn't give the names of Rockets who lose. I guess they don't want to hurt anyone's feelings?

Agree that's a little weird in the recap, but you can click on the box score which has the full results.

Rockets will play Ball State tomorrow - reportedly at Noon, although matches today were delayed by weather.

That will be a rematch of last year's final that BSU won 4-3. Time for some revenge, Rockets.

Rocket women could not keep the magical season going, and lose to Ball State 4-1 in the finals. Too bad.

I'm still wondering about Ball State's coach. He was supposedly put on administrative leave pending some sort of investigation early in the season, and there were lots of stories out about that. But since then, there has been no news. Is he still on staff? Was he coaching the team or not? What was the investigation about?

Men will play 7th ranked (and 7 seed) Michigan at Ann Arbor.

Finally found out what happened with Ball State women's tennis coach - he was fired.

Several violations noted including violating the concussion protocol, and that alone in my mind is a good reason to be fired. Apparently, he was at one time the pro at Sylvania Country Club. Interestingly, a grad assistant took over, but even she couldn't finish the year, and at the end of the season one of the player's fathers was coaching the team. And they still won the tournament. How disappointing that is for UT.

Fortunately UT has most of the team coming back (assuming Teske is staying for a 5th year?) and they recently announced a transfer from Nevada (originally from Guadeloupe) who was 18-6 there as a freshman, playing the bottom courts. They also have the Ukrainian player that came in this year but never appeared on the roster, so hopefully she will be added next season. Of course, Ball State returns basically their entire roster too, unless they lose some to the portal with the coaching shakeup.
