Women get a verbal from the #2 player in Virginia, Jacklynka Scholten. Ranked the #109 recruit in the country by Babolat.

Also, I missed posting this earlier, but the UT women finished the season ranked #71 in the country, which is reportedly the highest final ranking any MAC team has ever had. They also have been reportedly ranked for the most consecutive weeks of any MAC team ever. Great season.

Great news on recruiting and rankings. UT building a powerhouse!

I need to walk over and watch some matches next season. I need to expand my horizons.

I did not know there was such a thing, but apparently the ITA reports a Mid-Major Top-25 for DI tennis, and the UT women come in 17th in this season's final rankings. Ball State at 20. One more accolade for the team this year.

Another award, as Pawit Sornlaksup was named the winner of the ITA Arthur Ashe Leadership and Sportsmanship Award for the Midwest region. It appears there are 12 regions and each selects a recipient.

RE: UT Tennis 22-23
Final 2023 ITA Regional Rankings are out, in the Midwest Region:

Men's Team: 8th
Pawit Sornlaksup: 20th

Women's Team: 7th
Cassie Alcala: 16th
Shalini Tallamraju: 20th

In the player rankings, the 3 UT players are the only ones ranked not from a B10 school or Notre Dame. I cannot find anywhere a list of which schools are in which region, but know they are not by conference, because UT is in the Midwest, but Ball State is in the Ohio Valley region.

RE: UT Tennis 22-23
Pawit Sornlaksup has been playing pro tournaments this summer back in Thailand and it was reported today that he won both the singles and doubles for the Thailand Masters National Tournament! I also see that he's reached his highest ranking ever in the world-wide ATP men's singles, at #1239. Don't know what the record is for a UT player, but it would surprise me if anyone has ever been higher ranked.
