MyBB Lockett Makes Becky Hammon Award Watch List
That's the award for mid-major POY.

25 players on the list, taken from 26 conferences (all non-P6 conferences) and strangely, the MAC has 4: Lockett, A'Jah Davis (NIU), Peyton Scott (MU) and Lexi Fleming (BG). Strange for Fleming to make the list given she was injured last year, and is just a SO.

Based on stats the previous year, Lockett should have been on the list last year too, but was left out.

Saw this info from HerHoopStats, that Lockett was one of only 6 players in all of DI last year to average >17.5 pts, >5.5 reb, >2.5 ast, >1.5 stl and <3 TO. Cece Hooks was one of the other 6.

Coach Cullop's year as President of Women Hoops Group is paying off in our national brand recognition growing greatly I feel. The Duke game at home, this Mid-Major POY watch list, etc. all seem to have come on the heels of how she lead the Womens game through COVID and the NCAA tourney inequity scandal. Good for Coach Cullop and good for UToledo WBB.04-cheers

Building on this with a great season can only move us up on the WBB radar screen.

Lockett and Wiard both could've easily found a home via the Portal at a "higher profile" team for their last year...I think it speaks volumes to Cullop and the Toledo Program that they both chose to stay when so many others hop around in similar situations.

This site:

https://www.thenexthoops.com/features/20...-board-v2/

Has Lockett on their WNBA draft watch list - one of 6 players just below their top 21 prospects. Dyaisha Fair is #9 and Zia Cooke #19.

I saw another site post on twitter they have Lockett as their #22 WNBA prospect.

The mid-season watch list of 15 players is out, and Q is still on it.

Women's hoops very different than men's per the portal. most P6 women's programs have little fan interest, NIL $, hype, etc... A top player at UT is playing in front of bigger crowds, gets more attention and plays as much post season basketball as they would at all but the elite tier of P6. If I'm a star UT player the only move "up" is to a school like UConn, Stanford, S Carolina, Tennessee and they probably aren't recruiting mid major transfers for starting positions.

in men's hoops almost every P6 program's bball players are well known, have rich dating and hookup options, fly chartered jets, play on national tv, and even if their school only has 4-5 thousand fans a home game, most of their other games are in front of big crowds. lots of reasons to consider moving "up".

Q did not make it to the semi-final list of 10.
