That's an indication they don't trust the Freshman QB to throw. This has the makings of an absolute disaster.

Based on the first couple passes, I see why they don't trust him to throw.

Just kidding. I'm all for good fun and I don't have a problem with the video. But both sides would be better off letting the rivalry cool a little.

They are playing like that is true

Good second quarter by Kargman and the offense. Very big change going from a dual threat QB to a pocket passer. Weathered the storm nicely. Defense needs to start getting stops.

That was a big drive by Akron. Up 13 late in the 3rd. A stop and a score and we can breath east in the 4th. Defense had many chances to get them off the field and couldn't.

If you're going to at least block for him long enough for him to get the handoff.

That missed FG and ill-advised 2pt conversion attempt are really looming large right now. It feels like we're doing everything we can to let Akron hang around. Just get a stop here and sustain a drive and I'll be feeling good.

3rd and 14 and we can't get them off the field. This defense is bad.

Snapped a couple plays too early on that drive. Could've taken off another 20-30 seconds.

Allowing Akron to gain almost 500 yards is not good. Not good at all.

Well I'll take it. Really thought we were in trouble, not because Kargman isn't talented, but because he isn't a dual threat QB so the entire offense changes. It's the reason the browns changed their entire QB room this off season. You generally want to be able to run the same offense when your backup comes in. Impressive job by Kargman in a tough spot.

Can't help but feel Akron's QB really helped us out. We came in with 2 Ints and 10 sacks on the season. We had 2 Ints and 7 sacks today. Many of the sacks felt like Irons holding onto it too long trying to make something out of nothing. Also both picks were questionable throws. Still credit to the defense for making the plays.

Lastly the injuries really seem to be piling up. Hope Cephas is ok. It would be a shame for him to not get a chance to finish out the monster year he's having.

I'm not worried about the offense. I know injuries have played a role, but with their defense they will be fortunate to end up 6-6.

What injury forced Schlee out? And what happened to CJ West?

What backup is out? Kargman is QB2 and a true freshman. The only other QB I could it could be is Galvan who hasn’t played yet this season.

Lewis now has the longest win streak against Akron since the 1950s.

I believe he's talking about Jr. Griffin Brewster. He got hurt at some point before the season and will miss the whole season and I think I remember hearing they expected him to be the backup and wanted to redshirt Kargman.

Interesting note, redshirting Kargman could still be on the table. If the week off plus the bye helps Schlee heal up and he plays the last 4 games then Kargman could end up only playing 4 games and being able to get the redshirt. I sure hope if there's garbage time in one of the remaining games the coaches recognize this.

Sean Lewis is 17-16 against the MAC in regular season and is 22-29 overall, yet he has established himself - and deservedly so! - as one of the top head coaches in Kent State football history since going what is now called FBS 60 years ago (the wins against Akron, the East division title, the two bowl games, the bowl game win, three straight non-losing seasons which was bettered only by three straight winning seasons under Don James) That is certainly a sad commentary on Kent State football history.

If we want to go to a bowl we pretty much have to win the next 3. Buffalo in the final game of the season is going to be really really difficult. Hopefully we use the bye week to get healthy. Sweep the mid week games, get to go to another bowl.

RE: 2022 Football Week 8 vs Summit County Community College
I waited two days to post because I wanted to live in bliss. Today I looked at the stats. We were lucky, as I expected. Akron having a day with turnovers was the key. Our team did nothing spectacular. hopefully we get the full squad back before we go back out. Anyone know what happened to Cephis?
