When will Flournoy, Bedosky, Wilson, Richey, Johnson, Gunter, Cannon get to play?

We’ve got a pipeline of guys like that ending up at Samford. That’s not even all the HS scholarship guys.

I know bedosky has seen a little bit of PT.

I saw a guy on Saturday out there. playing on the outside. #91 which would be a defensive guy, Michael Moore. Couldn’t tell if he was playing as a tackle or TE.

I ask this because I’m just wondering when we start developing Olinemen rather than quick fixing.

I’m not sure who the guys are that are coming in to play those extra tackle / TE positions on certain sets, but they appear to be swapping jerseys to do so. They never have a name on the jersey, but I’ve seen various numbers this season playing that role… 16, 82, and 91. It’s very obvious it’s a true lineman, but they must be playing some type of “eligible” game with the defense. That’s just my cushion seat, hotdog, Diet Coke observation and viewpoint.

Also, wondered what difference does it make what number a lineman is wearing if they lineup correctly. It’s all so silly.

That’s probably a part of the game I haven’t quite learned. Linemen downfield, Ineligible receivers, illegal formations, motion. All seems selectively called. I never see such penalties in a big 12 game.

I feel like I have the premise of such rules down, but I usually don’t see why the penalty was called in the first place.

We’ve had a few TDs erased over the years due to linemen downfield or Ineligible receiver.. Yet, neither lined up on the line. Some confusing stuff there

I think the actual call is ineligible player downfield. It could technically be a WR, if they lined up incorrectly, where the inside reciever is covered by another. It's all about how many are on the line of scrimmage and if they are covered up by another teammate on the outside. In my mind, they were keeping the option of 16 or 82 being eligible, maybe on the goal line at some point. But again, totally my imagination.

Every stinking time I hear about an ineligible receiver downfield, I think of that exact call in Hattiesburg years ago that cost us the game. I’m still pissed off about that bad call.

When we got to the heavy package with a third tight end, we usually use an offensive tackle to do so. But if he is lined up on the end of the line, he has to have an eligible receiver number, which is why they have those temporary jerseys they wear. I know Bedowsky has done that for a few games, and someone else too.

Brady Wilson is the primary Rhino right now. Bedosky and Zaire Flournoy have also done it some.
