Not this year, but it’s definitely on my list in the future.

This could be Mercer’s biggest FCS test to date. I saw their record is 5-1 but they’re just now getting into the tougher teams of the SoCon. Hopefully will be a good game if ETSU plays well.

Live in Atlanta, ETSU old timer graduate, son a Mercer graduate - and Mercer University one of the best kept secrets in higher education.

Not, necessarily, disagreeing with your comment, but we should remember that both Teams have already played The Citadel. ETSU lost 20-17 & was down by 2 scores 2x during the game which was, statistically a very even contest. Meanwhile, Mercer shut out the Bulldogs 17-0 in a game in which the Bears were also dominant statistically.

To be fair, Mercer did get CIT at home, while the Bucs had to play in what is usually a tough environment in Charleston. FUBeAR also thinks, based on the past 2 contests, ETSU has begun to understand their own identity (if that makes sense) and made a few changes to more readily leverage that identity.

The Bucs Team that Mercer will see in Macon today is a significantly better Team than the one that faced CIT in early September.

Mercer 11 point favorite.
State will need to play error free and hope for the breaks to pull this one off.

Well we’re officially a dumpster fire. Billy Taylor deserved the HC job. He couldn’t have been worse. Instead we’ve turned over the program to a unqualified HC and inept OC. Noland should’ve never let Carter make this hire.

All the momentum with this program has halted and reversed. Sadly to an irreversable degree with UT stepping up. Any eyes that were on ETSU that usually would have been trained on UT are headed back.

Thank you OC!

But — they had 602 total yards. Could it be we just might have a defensive problem? 33 points will win most games if you play decent defense.

I don’t think so. The defense and special teams got us in position to score most of those 33 points. Otherwise, the offense had trouble moving the ball most of the day. I agree the defense should have prevented 55 points, but our offense is the main problem this year. And more specifically, the QB and OL, IMHO.

Mercer has scored 63 points vs. Morehead St., 16 points vs. Auburn, 17 points vs. Citadel, 45 points vs. Gardner Webb, 42 points vs. Wofford, 49 points vs. WCU, and 55 points against us. Only Citadel has been able to slow them down this season.

Plenty of blame to go around but the lack of sustained drives was the primary culprit. We needed to keep their offense off the field And didn’t. That being said, RB ran the wrong rout on the pick 6, ton of dropped balls by our WR’s and plenty of times the OL played really well and out play calling simply suc-ed. our kicker missed yet another FG and kicked the ball OB twice in one game on the kickoff. Then, their QB made our defense look elementary. Not because their great, they were actually very average and gave us every chance to win. They has a much, much better offensive scheme than we did. HC needs to take over the play calling but seems too timid to do that. No pressure on their QB and neither our DBs or our team could tackle. Arm tackles broken all night. A poorly performing team with most of the guys that won a chip equals a very, very inadequate coaching staff and and OC that simply is trying to do something that doesn’t work.

Also, looking at the stats, the OL didn’t give up a sack the last two games but plenty of dropped balls and missed open targets. As for the run blocking, it’s almost as if the blocking scheme doesn’t line up to whatever it is this OC is trying to accomplish on the ground. I haven’t seen a defensive front that seemed better than our guys. Losing 71 certainly didn’t help for sure on Sat, guys a baller.
