They’re paying that salary regardless, and unlike the many other previous hires that had good candidates getting passed over for the eventual hire that bombed, I couldn’t think of anyone out there they passed on that would deliver us better results. I don’t think anyone that had a hand in him being hired and extended has one iota of buyers remorse.
Of course they don’t have remorse, it isn’t their money!
If you truly stop and think about it, paying a football coach anything near or beyond what Lewis is getting is beyond idiotic for a MAC-level school. What is the point? You go 8-4 9-5, get 4,000 people to a home game in November, maybe a trip to Detroit (yay, Michigan in December!) and possibly a bowl trip to a game no one’s ever heard of and no one cares about but the gamblers.
Kent had a season of dreams in 2012 and then won its first bowl game in school history a few years later. What did they get out of it. Dix Stadium looks the same now as it did in 2004.
That is actually not even remotely true. There have been renovations and the place was absolutely packed against OU.
I am a loyal and dedicated fan who attends nearly all sports events but….
I was in section 4 for OU game. It was far from “packed” not close.
Announced attendance. 20392 in a stadium that today seats 24-25000.
It is the worst stadium in the MAC and like the MAAC center a dump with a fresh coat of paint.
Renovations include removing 7000 seats and installing a ridiculous high school grandstand they call the student section. Stadium Lighting is subpar with many burned out lights that were also burned out last year and never replaced.
Dix is 53 years old and it shows. Concrete cracking and eroding. Rust
everywhere. Look around its pretty bad.
The restrooms are clean and up-to-date. I will give them that.
Kent tries. Our reserved seats this year were infested by bees and un-inhabitable for people. So far our requests for removal of the bees have not happened. Will try again this week.
Kent badly needs an infusion of MAJOR donor money to bring our facilities
Up to standards. Oh, don’t forget we have a championship outdoor track team and NO outdoor track. The so called track by the Health Center is
Unusable with rutts and potholes.
Just saying….
