Rough game for the Bearkats pitching was solid all night and then Rice hit that 2-run homer where the ball just seemed to hang up in the air and find a way to carry over the fence. Bearkats had every opportunity to score getting men on 3rd base several times and never able to capitalize.

Yeah, Sam had at least one runner on in every inning after the first. Sitting with my brother-in-law who went to Sam, we were both amazed at how got out of all those jams but the last without a score.

WKU won both games against Ohio today and is now 7-0 to start the season. Best start to a season since 1985. If they win game 4 of the series Sunday it will be the 2nd best start in program history and best start since **checks notes**….1913!

FAU won one and lost one against USF. Third game - today (FAU up 2-0 at end of 1).

UTSA took 3 of 4 from St. Mary's (California) this weekend. We lost Friday night's game 1-0. Puts us at 6-2 on the year. We play at Baylor on Tuesday, and host Incarnate Word on Wednesday. Six games in six days seems a bit much.

MT swept St. Bonaventure in a four-game series.

C-USA 48-27 on the young season.

WKU dropped 4th game against Ohio. First loss of the young season for the new look Tops. 7-1 is better than any of us would have hoped though. 9 home games in a row coming up against mediocre competition. Winning them all is unlikely, but we should be sitting on a mountain of OOC wins the season. We shouldn't be a drain on RPI this year.

We’re in a similar situation at 6-2. We can score a lot of runs but we will go as far as our pitching will take us. We’ve had 79 runs in 8 games. I expect us to be decent but not world beaters.

FAU is at 6-1. Interestingly, we beat our in-state rivals UCF in the midweek game and won a three-game series against are future conference in-state rivals USF last weekend.

Our pitching is very young and our relief pitching is very sketchy.

St. Bonnie was horrid, but in year's past we would have lost at least one of the games in the series. Glad we took care of bizness.

UTSA wins 8-3 at Baylor tonight.

Rice beat Sam tonight 11-4.

So far this season:

0-3 vs. Stanford
1-2 vs. ULL
2-0 vs. Sam

3-5 overall. Eye test says we’re better than last year but scoreboard still a WIP.

Of course, we completely overscheduled like most years. Minute Maid this weekend vs. A&M, TCU, and Texas Tech.

We get some relief next weekend vs. Houston Christian, but otherwise our pre-conference schedule is all top 75-100 teams.
