Gotta beat teams like this if you want to be playing in Detroit. Not going to be any easier next week.

Actually, I'm not surprised. I thought the game was a 50-50 affair. Lewis has done an outstanding job bringing the program back from the post-Hazell doldrums, but they still have a ways to go to be considered THE dominant program in the MAC East, as the first two conference games have shown.

We're good but we're not good enough to win through many mistakes. So far special teams and ball security have been an issue. Base offense and base defense have looked pretty solid but we haven't been as good at finishing drives as previous years.

It's easy to see why people were excited for Schlee. A ton of arm talent and athleticism. He's going to elevate these two NFL caliber WRs we have more than Crum probably would have. However what we're really missing from Crum is the ball security and elite decision making at the mesh point. Which made us really tough in the RedZone.

Agree on all counts, ant-zip. Crum was incredible in both ball security and decision making, but I think Schlee will get better gradually.

First quarter defense: We can't let that many scoring drives happen. Two weeks in a row the defense came out weak. We don't have an offense as we did with Dustin that will score 45 points each game if the other team scores 40. Still a lot of long yardage plays by Miami. The offense can manage to outscore OU, BG, and Akron. We will really struggle to squeak out 6 wins against Buffalo and Toledo.
The defense has improved, but still not living up to the hype.

You are spot on as usual. I felt the same way about Miami - we've played 70 times and they have won 50 of those games. I love Lewis and what he's brought to the program. However, we can't take any MAC game for granted, especially those when facing good Qbs - and we lost to Miami's backup.
The Hayne's era was miserable - this years Iowa team's inability to score reminds me of those days. I hope we right the ship for the rest of the season, but sadly Buffalo looks like they're tops in the East.
