RE: Schumer's CHIPs Act Payoffs for Syracuse
To be honest there's more that's gonna be needed besides grads from Syracuse, sure that'll be part, but how many are actually going to be the floor mechanics for the machines? Or work the lines (if that's a part of it)

One reason they selected Syracuse and Central NY was schools like Syracuse, Cornell, RPI, RIT and the numerous SUNY and smaller private schools within 2 hours of the site.
Obviously they'll need employees with non technical backgrounds as well as skilled tradesmen to work at the plants. But a good point...you brought up...they aren't hiring everyone from college.
Here is the most important reason Syracuse was selected over the dozens of potential sites out of state: NY paid the most to Micron

I'm assuming you're like me, you've been in the real world, you know how it works, these facilities don't run on college degrees, hopes, and dreams.

Yup
I flew airplanes and understood my life depended on folks working with wrenches as much as someone with a computer.
