Speaking of extensions, DeBoer got a nice one at Washington too.

RE: Coaching Carousel Thread 2022
Tony Paul's article in 2021 about CC's contract is clear as mud but here's some info pulled...
1. CC's base salary is 540k per year which increases each year but somehow caps at 560k
2. He earns an additional 10k for 7 wins and 10k more for each win after that
3. He earns 25k for a bowl berth and an additional yr on his contract. 25k more if he wins it. If he does win, his retention pay increases by 10k
He also got 15k for the power 5 win and his staff got to split 25k.
By all measures I am reading, he is likely at 610k now with a potential 25k more if he wins a bowl

Hugh Freeze sounds like the name to watch for the Auburn job. Supposedly Kiffin is staying at Ole Miss.

If Chris Creighton wins the bowl game for sure he could be gone. Nebraska who has millions of booster dollars hires Matt Rhule ?!? I don’t get it!! How?? This guy has done nothing spectacular as a head football coach! If Nebraska can hire this guy then surely if CC wants to be a multimillionaire - then that can happen next season.

Matt Rhule was only great at Baylor and Temple. I think thats a good hire by Nebraska. Hugh Freeze is a sleazebag - he belongs at Auburn.
At this point I'm less concerned with any currently open jobs and more concerned with jobs that MIGHT open up. What if Purdue opens up? Or Cincinatti? Or Pittsburgh? Also - we're going to lose assistants to this round of the carousel. It happens every year. It's worth tracking.

I realize your concerns, but I don't see much happening with MAC head coaches.
Leipold got the job at Kansas in freaking April because of the Les Miles scandal. When you hire a head coach in April you are indeed desperate. I think Lance, like Creighton, has done a good job in a trying situation, but his star has diminished in the second half of the season. Babers, at Syracuse, more so for sure. Carey got fired at Temple last year. Fleck is so-so but the MAC certainly does not have a recent impressive track record of coaches doing well when promoted.
I remember the outrage when Tennessee tried to hire Schiano. The fan base claimed it was about the stuff when he was at Penn St but it clearly was due to his unimpressive W-L record. The guy did a wonderous job at Rutgers, another Kansas-EMU type program, but Tennessee wanted more.
They hired a coordinator from Alabama instead and got a 10-16 conference record and a cheating scandal.

Seems like Tennessee made the right hire this time though.

Add FAU to the openings. I'm sure we'll have a few more tomorrow/Monday.
Arizona State is hiring Oregon's OC as their head coach.
Stanford came open late last night.

Will CC take any of these? Probably not. Will they affect the MAC? Sure will.
Updated the list. expect a LOT more movement in the next few days.

RE: Coaching Carousel Thread 2022
I could see CC having interest in a school like Georgia Tech. They don’t expect anything there and he could get them to hover around 6-6 in a couple of seasons making them bowl eligible. Luckily for us, CC has a few kids in school for a couple more years I believe so he may not want to uproot them.

another angle i neglected to mention - two of CCs former assistants are P5 head coaches (wilson and deboer). i can see them losing assistants and picking some off our staff as well.

RE: Coaching Carousel Thread 2022
Dear Friends,
Let's be honest here. I would be very surprised if Coach Creighton were to take any job opening in CUSA or Sun Belt. To me they would be a parallel move, and unless they were paying more than a million a year, why move? Probably the same with the AAC.
I think the only way Creighton leaves is a job in the P5.
