It’s shocking that we are 6-0. We are absolutely the worst undefeated team in the country. I think we would be lucky to win 2 more games. I’ve pretty well given up hope on our secondary, I just hope we get our injured O players back. That’s pretty much the only hope we’ve got going forward.

You’re exactly right on all accounts.

Imagine how good we could be if we fired Staggs…

All we can hope for is to get our starters on Offense healthy and hope to beat people in shootouts going forward.

I liked Chadwell's relatively long convo with Vic Koenning. Maybe we can bring him with us back to Conway and leave Staggs in Monroe lol. Gave up no second half points.

Good game ULM.

I’ve heard we’re looking at November before Bennett will be ready from the broken arm. At that point, I don’t know if we’re better of getting him back or giving him a medical redshirt. I have no idea what the issue with Bedgood is, seems like he would’ve been back by now.

It’s just so ridiculous because our D front is always so good and our secondary is always so terrible. And Stagg coaches the Safeties and they’re literally our worst position. Even over the last 2 years our safeties always get burned.

Winners win and losers lose. CCU are winners and ULM are losers. Period.

Yep. If the D line doesn't get a sack on passes I always feel like someone will be wide open and we'll give up a big play. No faith in the secondary to make good plays on the ball.

A true Air Raid offense would torch these guys.

Our D who can do no good, gave up 1 score, got yet another turnover, and made a goal line stand, in a second half that saw the O take a shotgun effect to shooting the selves in both feet. Ridiculously dumb penalties, dropped passes, conservative play calling… No points.

There’s a lot to clean up after this one. Both sides.

Give the side that played BETTER in the second half some credit. We have worse fans than defense…

279 pass yards, to a guy who was 100% accurate all night, is not the end of the world.

As for the JC/VK convo, I think JC was telling him he’d like to talk about how they adjusted and shut us down. Though I’m not sure that was the case…it was us.

Chants avoid the full moon curse of Monroe Louisiana. Coastal is the SBC's first bowl eligible team this season.

Sorry, I can't come to torch the offense after one terrible and uncharacteristic half of football. They'll figure out what went wrong and get things back on track.

ULM hurt themselves by not just dropping back and passing almost every down like Georgia Southern. Someone would've been open. It never fails. Teams that figure that out and adjusts their play calling will move the ball at will. Holes will be there.

Just as you say they didn't shut us down, our defense didn't do anything. They are opportunistic at best. I'll give them that. A timely fumble and a goal line stand after a team just glided down the field doesn't sound encouraging to me. Our longtime terrible backend defense did not become stout all of a sudden. ULM just didn't adjust their play calling to relentlessly attack a very porous secondary.

We had a nice mix in the first half and our run game was working well. We were very balanced. Started the second half and it still worked. Then you shut down our run game. My frustration with our game calling was that we stopped attacking the middle of the field, which was open. ULM has been pretty good against the run so far, but we just can't get off the field on 3rd down, especially in the first half of games. Our pass rush has been pretty weak all year. VK needs another year to get the players to fit his defense (if we can keep him). VK does a great job of adjusting

Yep, my thoughts as well. ULM ran the ball well in the first half. Coastal came out of the half wanting to slow down the run. Staggs and company tend to make solid adjustments to run defense. I know there was opportunity for ULM in the backend though. At that point, if ULM would've aired the ball out and attacked by far the weakest part of the Coastal defense they would've been gravy.

That’s what we do. Shut down the run and beg them to throw. In doing so, we aren’t crowding receivers and getting burnt over the top 20 times. We are gonna give up the short stuff, wait for opportunities, use the shortened field as an extra defender when you hit the red zone. It’s what we do.

You guys ran the ball better on us in the first half, than anyone all year. That’s the real takeaway, not the 17 for 17, open receivers for short yardage crap people focus on.

And Teal, I’m not torching the offense, just stating the truth for this game, half 2. I love our O. But I can’t give a pass to the self inflicted… ESPECIALLY the 15 yard penalties. Utter stupidity and disregard for the team above oneself. I’m not often “pissed” at players, but there’s two I’m ready to go rip a new one. Inexcusable.

Lol, I’m not sure what games you watch. Our secondary averages allowing 3x 20+ yard receptions per game. If it wasn't for the Buffalo game in which they allowed none, that average would be over 4 per game. They’ve given up five 40+ yard receptions, two of which were 50+ yards and one was 73 yards. A corner and a safety getting burned on the same plays over and over again isn’t “open receivers for short yardage crap.”

And what does it matter if it doesn’t lead to points?

10 passing TDs, 8 INTs. Thru 6 games. What do the non-scoring passes matter? I’d even argue the passing TDs don’t matter at all. They’re about a wash with INTs, which we cash in on at an incredible rate.

You’d think the way our D gets bashed, we’d be giving up more than 1.67 scores per game then the air. Maybe you ought to look at the pass D stats of some other teams you likely deem “better”.
