I'm not sure how much sway the AMA has on ordinary doctors. It appears now that the organization is just another political organization that masquerades as a professional organization. Full of Fauci like bureaucrats.

Probably more than you'd think. They are very process driven people and the processes are fed to them by bureaucrats and insurance people. If they follow the process, they CYA against liability. I argue all the time with my PCP, who is otherwise to the right of me (or at least more "Republican"). All he does when I ask questions or bring up concerns is link to declarations from the CDC, NIH, AMA, etc. Anytime I bring anything up, have any ideas, or ask about supplements, all he says is "there is no evidence" and refuses to offer a hypothesis unless it is fully vetted and endorsed by Big Medicine. He's a friend of mine and is certainly competent enough to read bloodwork and write scripts, but I'm probably going to have to try to find someone who can think for themselves as soon as I start having health issues. Maybe there are more specialists out there where this isn't the case, especially older ones, but every PCP, urgent care, or general physician I have seen in the last 25 years just seem to operate like a flow chart.

I don’t know either. But I’m sure they could have a doctors license revoked permanently. Most likely. And that possibility alone is enough to get nearly any doctor in line, especially about a stupid issue that most care nothing about and that has nothing to do with their practice. They’ll go along enough not to make waves.
