RE: 2022 MAC Bowl Picture
Yeah I feel like if MSU is bowl eligible, there would be a hard push for MSU-EMU at Quick Lane from their bowl committee.

Bahamas
Dec. 16
Ball State (MAC) vs. Western Kentucky (C-USA)

Cure
Dec. 16
South Alabama (ESPN) vs. Toledo (ESPN)

Lendingtree
Dec. 17
Marshall (Sun Belt No. 5) vs. Miami-OH (C-USA/MAC)

Idaho Potato
Dec. 20
Fresno State (MWC) vs. Bowling Green (MAC)

Quick Lane
Dec. 26
Michigan State (Big Ten No. 8) vs. Ohio (MAC)

Camellia
Dec. 27
Eastern Michigan (ESPN) vs. Georgia Southern (ESPN)

Arizona
Dec. 30
San Diego State (MWC) vs. Buffalo (MAC)

With MSU's big upset over Illinois, they have a pretty good chance at getting to 6-6. If that happens I think the Quick Lane Bowl is a real possibility for them. If they were to win out and be 7-5 probably not, but 6-6 I think it could happen.

If that happens the QL Bowl people probably wouldn't care too much about having an instate (or Toledo) MAC school school since they would have MSU. However, I think a possible EMU/MSU match up in Detroit is becoming a real possibility.
This makes sense. But I bet Toledo wants QL Bowl. They haven't played Detroit in over a decade, their last few bowls have been heartbreakers and difficult to attend. With Ford Field they could almost get a home game feel and increase their win probability.

EMU is sending out a bowl interest form. Here's the link if anyone wants to fill it out.

RE: 2022 MAC Bowl Picture
Well it was a pretty good week in terms of our bowl outlook with obviously the biggest thing being becoming bowl eligible ourselves. We didn't get quite enough help to say we are for sure going to a bowl yet. The MAC has eight bowl tie-ins and there are currently nine schools that are or could become eligible for a bowl. That means there is a chance a 6-6 MAC team (which I kind of feel will end up being our record) could be left out. Of course ESPN could just invent a bowl last minute like they did last year then we'd be fine.

Bowl eligible
Toledo (7-3)
Ohio (7-3)
Eastern Michigan (6-4)

Need one more wins
Buffalo
Bowling Green
Ball State

Need two more wins
Miami
Kent State
Central Michigan

Eliminated
Akron
Northern Illinois
Western Michigan

Here are our rooting interest for next week:

Tuesday
BG @ Toledo: I'll go with Toledo, they are already in and a loss for BG would put them on brink.

Ohio @ BSU: I'll go with Ohio for the same reason as Toledo, get Ball State one loss for being out of it.

Wednesday
Miami @ NIU: NIU in this one. They are already out, and a loss would eliminate Miami.

EMU @ KSU:...duh.

WMU @ CMU: We want the Broncos. Western is already out, and a loss would not only eliminate Central, but it would also take some incentives off the table (bowl eligibility and the Michigan MAC) for them when we play them.

Saturday
Akron @ Buffalo: Akron. That would get Buffalo one loss from being out.

There used to be an order of bowl selections per conference, does that still exist? If the Quick Lane got one of the first picks, it’s likely going to be the MACE or MACW winner, probably Toledo.

I think for the Big Ten (and some other conferences) there is still a loosely followed pecking order. For example, the champ goes to the Rose, second place Citrus, third Outback, etc. and I think the Quick Lane was something like 8th. If a team makes the BCS/now the CFP then that kind of moves everyone up a peg. I believe they don't have to take team that finished in their spot, so like the Citrus bowl wouldn't necessarily have to take the second place team, they just get the second pick.

I don't believe the MAC has an actual pecking order of the bowls they are tied into like that.

Unless there's some sort of yearly rotation, it honestly seems to be no rhyme or reason. Last few years for the MAC champ:

21 NIU - Cure Bowl
20 Ball State - Arizona Bowl
19 Miami - Lending Tree
18 NIU - Boca Raton

MLive huh? Methinks that the A2 News Amy Whitesall, Rich Rezler and Kevin Ryan would not have erroneously reported EMU's overall record at 6-3 when it is actually 6-4. Unfortunately, that is the state of our "local" news coverage right now.

You know what I find disturbing? Most of these folks are rabid EMU fans and attend the games. Jim Cnockaert, who wrote books about U-M football has season tickets for EMU games also. Thanks, MLive for doing such a great job covering EMU!

Playing Maryland in the Quick Lane Bowl would be great. It would also be wierd to root against Ryland.

Rumor I heard is EMU is pushing for Bahamas, Arizona, or Myrtle Beach.

Bahamas Bowl is atrocious — The absolute worst case scenario. I can’t imagine any program “pushing” for it.

Bovine, I'm interested in your comment. Is it the facilities, experience, etc? Obviously the sound of Bahamas is great but maybe for the players it was difficult? Wherever they go, I really hope we win and can bring a trophy back to the SAAPC
