RE: Open Thread - Week 5
Quick Hits ...

-- Satterfield is done. The only variable is time. It sucks, cuz I really wanted him to succeed. For whatever reason, it's just not working.

-- How about those Dukies?? Never saw that coming, especially in year 1. Gives me hope for when we have to hire a new coach.

-- Georgia Tech -- dayum. Good thing you acted when you did. You may have been stuck with him a little longer than necessary. I don't know how to take watching former Card Hassan Hall rip off long runs for the Jackets. Good for him.

-- Pitt's all blue jersies are some of the best in the conference. Sharp.

-- Wake is a very solid football team. I'm jealous.

-- NC State lost, but they're damn good. They will whip my Cards.

-- The Cuse ... 5 - 0.

At least I've got the NFL ... As a Washington Commanders fan, I can .... wait a sec. Uhhh ... never mind.

At least I've got my fantasy team ... Sofa King Awesome, defending the super bowl title is sitting at ... crap ... 0 - 3. Freakin' Russell Wilson.

When's hoops start again??

4 dropped interceptions and 3 turnovers will get you beat. Congrats Jackets.

Why did Clemson storm the field? Yes, NC State is in the top 10 but this is Clemson here. I mean if Alabama beat Florida at home would they storm the field? I doubt it. Act like you've been there before!

8 top 25 losses this week and 2 ranked teams still playing.

It was a good weekend of watching football.

Still don’t think this is the guy to get FSU back. I hope they tank and get Coach Prime so he doesn’t go to Auburn and face off against Saban in the Aflac Bowl, er, I mean Iron Bowl.

They didnt storm the field. Its a ritual for their fans to come to the field and sing a song together after each win at home.

If he goes to Auburn he'll sign a 10-year 110 mil contract and be fired in year 2 for not producing fast enough.

Dont know if I ever heard of this before, but Babers and the Wagner coach agreed to have the 3rd and 4th quarters be only 10 minute quarters instead of the normal 15 minute quarters. Wagner was completely outmatched with only 50 total yards for the entire game. I know SU tries to help other NY State fcs programs but they could have chose someone with at least a pulse like Colgate or Cornell etc...
Also, Babers trying to let Sean Tucker break a record still had him in the game for the second half and he got injured.

Oh look, Georgia Tech gets their **** together just in time to make the conference look awful.

Way to Coastal Division, Pitt.

Good to see that division is much weaker than the Atlantic, AGAIN

Probably would get fined every week in the No Fun League (also known as the SEC).

Totally agree with this. Norvell is suspect.

After that, I am pretty confident the Coastal comes down to the Victory Bell. It’s a shame they put the game in mid October instead of the finale.

The ND game seemed to light a fire under the defense.

I agree it wasn't the smartest of moves. But, when we played Wagner back in 2018 he kept Dungey and Strickland playing well into the third quarter as well.

It's Dino being Dino.

Luckily it appears that Tucker wasn't seriously injured. Unless they are hiding it very well since he walked off on his own accord and was at the press conference shortly thereafter.

Cheers,
Neil

There is a strange relationship between Syracuse and Pitt. For two programs with a lot of history it often appears that when one is good the other is bad. Rarely are our programs Top 25 good in the same year. The two exceptions are 1956 (we were ranked 13th in the Final AP poll and they were 8th and in 1959 were ranked number 1 and they were ranked 20th).

When they fell last night to GT I knew not only would they drop out of today's polls (that was obvious), but that we were going to jump into the AP Poll despite our just beating the worse FCS team perhaps in the history of FCS teams.

They lead the overall series 42-31-3

Since 1950 they still lead 36-29-1

Cheers,
Neil

If you were making up the schedule before the season started and were looking for a compelling rivalry game on Thanksgiving weekend, wouldn't you have picked UNC vs NC State instead of UNC vs Duke?
