How cool. Been wanting to visit that part of the state. It's decades since I barely drive through. I'll have to be sure to pack a Rocket T and see the mural.

He is certainly due all the accolades. To bad it took so many years for him to be recognized.

There are some 55 murals in Portsmouth on its flood wall that reflect the history of the city. The flood wall is 20 feet high and 2,000 feet long. Does seem strange Ealey was only recently added to the wall - but it coincides with him being inducted into the college HOF.

Didn't realize 2 things after watching the video. 1 - A Little League World Series champion came out of Portsmouth, Ohio. 2 - That Al Oliver had such a great career in MLB

Looked it up and it is Wheelersburg, Ohio that won the World Series. It is located 3-4 miles from the center of Portsmouth and may have been a Little League team that played in Portsmouth.

I do remember Ealey talking about being a teammate of Al Oliver (who was a couple years older) in another video. Oliver almost got to the 3,000 hit plateau (he had 2,743) hit 219 homers and had a career BA of .303 in the major leagues. Oliver is on another mural.

here is a link to the pictures of the murals and a site that shows a picture of the flooding in Portsmouth that lead to the construction of the floodwall
