He committed.

Wonder where he plays. I was assuming OL, but he appears to actually be able to move…which is wild.

Update: he’s wearing #48 in the NIU pictures posted. But tweeted at the OL coach. Swing TE/OT

I would like to see him at FB and G, but have no idea what the plans are. I would like to see us run a more NFL run game like the 49ers, they use the FB quite a bit. He appears to be a weapon like Ratdog.

6'7 - 293 vs 6'1" - 220

There's really nothing similar about the two.

My best guess is they'll use him as OL and then have a package of Tackle Eligible plays for him for goal line situations.

On his Twitter profile, he says he is a TE @ NIU

Yeah, I know.

But I'd also point out he caught exactly 3 catches in 3 years at Wabash so I'm not sure what the plan should be for this dude.

GO HUSKIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like the kid. Good size. Can move. Let him try TE. Then move him to tackle if that isn’t working out.

You really don’t go wrong with athletes on the roster.

He’s heavier than Soraghan but probably be used similar. Jumbo package to help the run BUT he can sneak out for a pass here and there to keep the D honest. Big end zone target.

I don’t think he’ll carry or catch the ball like rat did, but I see him being a hybrid TE/FB

If he has hands, definitely a red zone threat. A 5'11" safety on a 6'6" 300lb TE is hard to defend

The plan for this dude is pretty clear... block the opponent and pave way for our RBs. Big, blocking tight ends are a must-have in heavy run offenses.

Welcome aboard!!

I think you're exactly correct. I was thinking about this earlier and just didn't bother to write it down.

He's not much of a pass catcher but he can do it so you don't throw that skill away as a lineman but he can block and serve as an occasional safety valve passing target.

Hammock worked for Harbaugh. Think Patrick Ricard or Nick Boyle. Just maul....

Let’s keep our eyes and ears open for a couple more spring grads. I think we might have a qb coming in. Just something I heard hammock is reaching for. Depth, and competition next season at qb - without praying for a big name qb to join up. A challenger for Hampton with a year in the offense sounds good to me. I don’t think it’s a done deal yet. Let’s just see how spring plays out for the qb.

I would hope. I think Hampton can get better, but can never have enough competition/depth at QB when you are trying to win Championships.

I wonder if it is also due to Rocky's knee being not 100%?

No real idea as to the why...I just know that it's something that could happen. It's being worked on.

Like you said though, competition is the key at QB. It never hurts.

Wasn’t sure where to post this. Dingle is a 2023 signee.

This is just my opinion, but NIU can do better (and has better on the roster). I know Dingle was listed as a JUCO AA, but a good chunk of his yards came after contact. Many of those yards likely would not occur at this level. Take that for what it’s worth.

Agreed. Probably took his best offer and found out the competition level is stiffer than he realized. Chances are he ends up at an FCS school.

Dingle did the same thing last year from MSVU. I guess you just keep looking for the perfect situation..IDK
