I’m sure somebody told you this but it sounds like you talked to somebody who doesn’t like Hammock and is just talking nonsense.

I’m saying he has no connections. That’s a big part of many professions, like coaching, so Hammock is flying blind. Taking applications is basically what he does. No one of any value is reaching out with a valid, “hey take a look at my guy…”

So for everyone asking for Hammock to make changes, who, and how. He is on his own basically. Yes he could find someone, but the same type of staff he already has.

Life is about the connections you make, much of the time, and hammock is short there.

I would not be in total shock of the changes are minimal - if any. The changes are likely to be more schematic than anything. Everyone is on this ship together. Sink or float.

How did he get Eidsness? I have to imagine he was a pretty respected O-coordinator for the things he did at SDSU. He made some bad hires on the D-side. Let's see what he does next and decide. Hopefully with all the recruiting he has created some networks of his own by now.

FWIW, here's the history of coaching turnover with this staff

Gone

Houston Jones - WR, now at Minnesota State
Tony Sorrentino - TE, then WR, now with Minnesota Vikings

Joseph Hawkins - WR
Nick Benedetto - Co D Coordinator/CB
Juney Barnett - Strength

So most of the guys who have left, other than Sorrentino and Jackson went down a level.

Also, Jackson is funemployed I believe. For making some not so chill remarks.

Was looking up the salaries at NIU and none other than Derrick Jackson is their ranking 5th overall at 200k per year. Ouch. Talk about no return on investment.

Somewhat surprised. Looking back, Hams sat him down due to him being gone. Waylee did play against Akron after Cadlee got hurt and that is a stand up move on his part.

Waylee probably got offered NIL money somewhere. In this world all good G5 players are going to leave every year, that's just the way it is.

I will be really interested to see where Waylee lands. He's obviously a talented player but he's never topped 1,000 yards. He's an Iowa kid so I wonder if he has any hopes of Iowa or Iowa State? Both those squads don't have a real #1 back so it's possible he could get a shot there. Staying tuned

Yes it is. If he gets offered NIL money I hope the school realizes his injury history and likely will be paying when Waylee is injured (as he often is).

We already had huge holes to fill and getting worse with players entering the portal. I hope Ham and staff are up to the task of getting quality players from the portal!

Rogers and Cox were losses. Waylee is a minor loss. It just opens up the door for Brown to be the full time back. I really don't have one rated any higher than the other. There's also some talented freshman behind Brown. RB is not a problem.

Brown is built to be a #1 workhorse. So if he stays he's going to get the ball...a lot.

I agree. I was not as high on Waylee as some. Yes, he has got great speed but so does Brown and I see Brown as overall being the better RB. While losing Waylee this year after Ducker last year is not a good look, I'm not sure it says anything about Ham and is just the way things are now. While I think the transfer portal is getting out of hand (maybe more than the powers contemplated) it is where we are and Ham and company need to hit the portal hard and come out overall ahead.
