The accurate term for his involuntary movements is Fencing Response. Super common with major concussions.

No, but the Coach saw what happened last week so even with medical clearance there should have been some caution. They should clean house...that wasn't a good look especially now that we are more knowledgeable about brain trauma. So if you're a coach you have to care about the person first...then the player second.

If you watched the press conference after Sunday’s game, McDaniel was concerned and thought it was a head injury at first. But both the neurologist and Tua told him it wasn’t. So if they both say he’s fine, and Tua is comfortable with playing, what more can the coach do? Now, if neurologist said he wasn’t good, or Tua said he wanted to sit out, then yes, heads should absolutely roll. But McDaniel was following the advice of the doctor (which again, he is supposed to do) and listened to Tua, so there shouldn’t be any blame on him. And for the record, after the game, Tua seemed pretty normal and he had a pretty good second half of the game. And there was a QB sneak prior to the hit where Tua’s back got bent in a really awkward way. I’m not saying that it wasn’t a head injury, it may have been, it may not have been, but I will take into account those facts as much as him being wobbly on the field. And it’s not crazy to think that the hit he took last night was solely responsible for what happened. He basically got suplexed by a 260+ pound man and landed on his head/neck.

Well we can agree that this doesn't look good for the nfl at a minimum. That's a segment of time Tua will not be able to recall (missing moments). The league, the teams, as well as the players need to be more cautious when it comes to concussions.

If you look at the video of the first injury, his hands go to his head. He shakes his head as if to clear it. At no point does he reach toward his back or ribcage. Then he collapses, is helped up, and leaves the field

The team neurologist is theoretically there to protect the players, but it is nonsense to say that he did not feel pressure to get the starting QB back on the field if at all possible. As to Tua, players have tried to shake off injuries and get back on the field forever. He is not a trustworthy witness. The doc needs to examine him while asking questions and observing closely to decide on his status, that should not be up to the player.

Once you have a concussion you are much more susceptible to them, and Tua took the second one just days later. It could well be a year or two before he completely recovers. His hands going up in that involuntary, spastic reaction is a classic symptom.

The Dolphins are paying him a lot of money. He's the most important player they have. The team's best interest is to get him back out there as soon as possible. At this point that is somewhat balanced by the fact that the public and reporters are watching their actions closely.

I know more than I ever wanted to about this sort of thing as my son took a very bad TBI when he was a HS senior twenty years ago.
