It shouldn't be that hard to out do Coach John Brennan.

Huggs embraced UC's hoops history, brand and legacy. Won big here. Respected by his players. Now coaching at West Virginia.

Mick embraced UC's hoops history, brand and legacy. Won big here. Respected by his players. Now coaching at UCLA.

John Brannen...you want to upsize those fries with your order?

It sounds like Mick didn't really embrace the former players here all that much. Brannen reached out more to them but Covid limited the opportunities.

Bolded, FWIW, that's what I've heard too. Maybe it's not in his skill set to do so but someone around the program should have made sure that relationship work was being done. Of all these coaches, only Mick was an alumnus and that alone should suggest he would have cultivated more relationships with former Bearcats.

Sure won't but I've never been fired before or lost the respect of folks in my workplace.

Don't worry, neither will your non-internet persona.

this was a bit messier. the same way fans ran with the "he's a traitor who went to Louisville" crap, a lot of the 90s alumni did too. Huggins had to reach out to guys directly to thaw that out with some people. them guys are (understandablely) loyal to one another

He did a better job than I could have 01-ncaabbs but I'm glad he took up coaching instead of singing as a career Rimshot
That's pretty cool!

Was that video From the practice gym? Do they ever offer tours? I think they should to get people more interested and excited and more likely to donate.

Top left shows a board celebrating Sean Kilpatrick. I know there may be other ones but that one really should say AP first team all American
- big difference to me

RE: 2022-23 Bearcats Basketball Season Thread
I was down in the practice gym several years ago on a tour for some occasion. It's worth a look. Since it is underground (windowless) it's adorned with lots of UC basketball history and honors on those wall banners. All very impressive.

Related to all this history, I still feel the lightboxes in the south end of the renovated 5th/3rd Arena just fall short of properly showcasing UC's national championships. I think those and the six Final Fours at least deserve old style giant rafter banners that folks can't miss when they walk in the arena. Am I alone on this?

I hated that they took away the banners. I wish they would have found a place for them.

The 5/3 renovation was great, but it did a terrible job of highlighting the program's history. The picture of Oscar grabbing a rebound while doing the splits is one of the most iconic photos in college hoops history. It's also extremely cool looking. But it's not prominently displayed at the Shoe! I don't get it. There's so much low-hanging fruit.

Bolded, I'll go one better and say it's iconic in all of sports. That photo should be produced as a very large banner up there alongside the national titles and final fours to honor the man. And how about a silhouette image of that pose added to a new retro uni from that era? Our own "jumpman" if you will...

Amazing idea and a wonderful to honor Oscar's contribution, then and all the way to now, to the University. What a great way to usher UC hoops into the Big XII.

3 more days. I say this every year...hard to believe another hoops season is cranking up. My fav time of the year with BOTH Cincinnati football and basketball.
