Thanks for posting this; well worth watching.

The relationship between Wes and Roy Williams as discussed by the studio hosts is really remarkable. I had been impressed when Wes was first hired that Williams had joined UCATS and had attended a game (or games) last season. What a great mentor for Wes.

Overall, Wes seems to have cultivated a positive relationship with Coach Huggins too. From all appearances, he's done everything right since day one. I know we all want more wins this year and I believe the foundation is in place for that to happen.

Not really Bearcat related, but he also takes a slight shot at the Big 12. This is bound to ruffle some feathers:

https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basket...ot-big-ten

Quote:For Jim Boeheim, the only true barometer of a conference's success is its record in the NCAA tournament.

Quote:"At the end of the day, you play for the [NCAA] tournament," Boeheim said Friday at his team's media day. "You can say what you want about the Big Ten. They sucked in the tournament. To me, that's what they did. All of their wins were in their league. If you can't play in the [NCAA] tournament, then you're not good."

Quote:"Kansas was the best team [last year]," Boeheim said. "But the best league? What league won 14 games and only lost five [in the NCAA tournament]? The ACC. To me, that's the best league."

Asked to comment on Boeheim's comments, Mick Cronin said "The NCAA Tournament is for the fans". ( I kid...I kid) 03-lmfao

The tournament is all that matters. He’s right.

Beyslime is a diick. Anything that comes out of his mouth just flush it down. The B12 conference won the last two natty's. Tell me when was the last time a team/s from the same league won back-to-back natty chips....I'll hang up and listen.

Also had 3 different teams play for the championship in 3 seasons winning the last 2.

Jim is making excuses for Syracuse falling off a cliff

Ironically it’s Louisville-UConn in 2013-2014.

Louisville’s was in the Big East and UConn’s was in the AAC. But they were both in both leagues together.

I always got the feeling he thought he was doing UC a favor by playing them.

For how long grandpa Boeheim has been around and the payers he's had, he needs to shut up about success in the NCAA tournament since he's basically an underachiever himself.

Nearly everyone talks their book. Syracuse hasn't been up to their previous standards since they entered the ACC, but they did make a Final 4 and had a couple other Sweet 16s all with double-digit seeds. So you can understand why Boeheim would say only the tournament matters.

Well, back to the "2022-23 Bearcats Basketball Season Thread" 03-lmfao

Chad Brendel was on a podcast the other night, mentioning Hensley has grown to 6-9, and is spending time at the 5. Should be interesting to see how that works. Anyone know his current weight? Site shows 220, so I'm thinking he has to be pretty far above that by now, in order to spend any time at the 5.

If Hensley can develop a jump shot, I think he could really surprise some people with his ability to play up and down the front court.

And I don't think he would need to bulk up a ton at 6'9"...you run him out at the 5 and you likely are running or playing 5-out, which is something not many teams on our ****** schedule will be able to defend.

Bearcats ranked #51 in preseason Kenpom rankings. I think that's pretty fair with what we know about the team as a baseline. Better than last year, but still just below bubble contention. I wouldn't be surprised if we're 30-40 by tournament time.

I'm sure losing rim protection will hurt, but it needs to be said that adding a second scorer should make this offense much better than it was by the middle of last season.

So, spending week #2 out here in Texas country. God's country. What sky! Went to San Antonio for a few days and checked out the River Walk and the Alamo. Awesome stuff. Would recommend that city to any western traveler. Anywho, getting caught up on all things Bearcats. Coach Miller presser this week...

Thus far into Wes' tenure, I have to say I love his press conferences. I feel like I legit learn something almost every single time meaning his pressers aren't the usual "they are a great team and anyone can beat anyone on a given night" discussions. He is a truly refreshing coach who can talk Xs and Os without giving away a game plan or anything confidential.

We UC fans are blessed with 2 truly personable coaches and extremely good communicators in our 2 biggest revenue producing sports.

Really appreciated what Rob had to say. The kid seems years beyond his age. Looking forward to what he can bring to the PG position in terms of dee and ball distribution. Wes commented a bit on our increased length and athleticism to guard on the perimeter this season. Can't wait to see this team hopefully take some steps forward this year.

Bolded, it's so easy to overlook that and it's not to be taken for granted when I listen to some very disingenuous coaches at major programs.

And most of all, Wes comes off as genuine, especially talking about Cincinnati's rich basketball history and the fact that he is honored to coach here. I really do hope he is successful in turning it around this season; it's hard not to like him.

I mentioned this in the recruiting thread, but Wes treating this school like the elite college basketball program it should be has been a breath of fresh air. He really does seem to believe in this school as an elite college basketball program and seems honored to be a part of it.

Wes has a long way to go to accomplish what the last coach did, but I always felt like Cronin spoke like UC was lucky to have him, not the other way around...I never get that sense from Wes. It's a great quality. I hope the high level success follows.

It shouldn't be that hard to out do Coach John Brennan.
