New GT AD and FB HC watch thread
This is going to take a few weeks to shake out, and I imagine the AD search comes first.
AD Candidates: Graham Neff, Tom Jurich, ??
HC Candidates: Deion Sanders, Charles Huff (Marshall), Curt Cignetti (JMU), Jamey Chadwell (CCU), Jeff Monken (Army), Bill O'Brien (Alabama/Former GT OC under O'Leary after Friedgen went to Maryland), Dan Mullen (UF/Miss State), Tom Herman (Texas)
I have two pull the fire alarms on the board right now:
1) Letting a booster like Zelnak choose the AD again (that got us Mike Bobinski). That appears to be out ... Angel Cabrera seems to be the right guy at President. He believes in and is taking an active role in the athletic mission.
2) Bill O'Brien ... that's the Ted Roof of offensive choices.
The off the board pick I like in there is probably Cignetti. My preference is for Deion as HC and Jurich as AD.

RE: New GT AD and FB HC watch thread
Are these names straight from a directory of some sorts??? No mention of experience or schools they are currently at or have been what they’ve done. I take anything Thamel says with a grain of salt for honestly when was the last time he was right about anything.
I would think Tom Jurich would be an awesome pick, and one where he would rebuild your system and have it ready and in top notch shape when he decides to leave and hand the keys over. The only down side with TJ is his age and I think he would only stick for say 6-7 years tops. He is a great fundraiser and has an eye for improvement not only personnel but facilities too. Just look at Louisville where they were 30yrs ago, and look where they are now Personnel, Conference, Facilities, Campus hell you name it all was done via his vision. So if you can get a few years out of him it would be well worth it.
For HC I think you go to the top of the list with Deion Sanders and see if he would interested in returning to the City he helped rebuild within the professional ranks with Atlanta Hawks and the Atlanta Braves. For I could see another helicopter entrance into a press conference coming soon.
There will be plenty of candidates, and with only being into the fourth week of the season gives enough time for GT to hire an AD and evaluate board for this is going to be a job plenty will be interested in. Again start from the top for he would be my pick too.

Pete Thamel needs better sources. Doesn't even have Prime Time in the list but he seriously puts BRENT KEY in there? I have a better chance of being the Pope than Brent Key has of being the next head coach.

I know you like Prime, but do you really think GTs septaganarian fanbase would get behind that hire?

I think Prime would take Arizona State over Georgia Tech everyday and twice on Sunday... and those are the only two major jobs open so far.

It's early. And he is rich. He doesn't have to take any job this year.

Ga. Tech might hire Tom Jurich? The same guy who got fired amid scandal at Louisville? The same Jurich whose letter of firing talked of "ineffective management, divisive leadership and unprofessional conduct?' The same guy who's been considered radioactive ever since he got fired?
If Tech is going to do that, it's not the Tech I thought I knew.

Good luck. It's always been a bittersweet process when Pitt has gone through the coaching carousel before. I think we might have held the record for how often it happened from 2010-2015 to be honest. On the one hand, tons of hope! On the other hand, bitter disappointment and the unknown.
