I see what you did there...
The Blue Raiders are coached by a former Florida State QB. Wouldn't wanna be U.

I guess the "U" has a ways to go before being "Back". Perhaps the expectations for the "U" are too high as they have a new coach and it will take a while before he can recruit his kind of players and perhaps their quarterback needs a bit more time for growth.

It seems Miami has not had a great QB in a while. A good to great QB can and will make all the difference in the world. What would UL be without Teddy Bridgewater? Answer: Stuck in the AAC.

Actually Louisville beat Florida in the Sugar Bowl in 2013 after Louisville had already accepted an invite to the ACC. So Louisville's leg work up to the coming of Teddy Bridgewater was enough to get them into the ACC.

You are so right, still I think Teddy and crew dazzled enough people in the ACC to demand UL over UConn.

Clemson and FSU threatening to go to the Big 12 if UConn was added was also enough for the PTB to select Louisville over UConn.

Clemson and Fl state pat themselves on there backs every time they think of that grant of rights they signed after Louisville joined……..//???? Right? Or they would like to pretend that moment in time never happened ?

The GoR has helped the ACC stay together and I genuinely think everybody in the ACC would prefer that the current members stick together. The SEC and BIGTEN did not seem interested in Clemson or FSU then and maybe not even now. The ACC continues to be their best option.
I’m not opposed to UConn being a member of the ACC. There was only 1 spot open and UL was and continues to prove to be the better choice.

You make a good point ...
Miami HAD a verbal from Teddy Bridgewater, but when they fired Randy Shannon due to NCAA violations, Teddy wound up at U of L. (And he opened a pipeline of Miami kids to Louisville too, a handful of which played for several seasons in the NFL).
Florida tried to swoop in and sign Lamar Jackson, also from the Miami area. You think the Gators fortunes are changed if Lamar is wearing the orange and blue in Gainesville?
These two kids are pillars in Louisville football, and both came from the metro Miami area.
Miami will be back --- they have too much talent in their backyard that eventually, they'll sign some difference makers -- even if it's just by accident.

That's probably true for the university presidents and ADs—but not at the cost of seeing recruiting rivals double their schools' revenues every year. Few conference partners have the kind of charm it takes to compensate a school for an annual $30M+ revenue gap with a peer. At a school's first opportunity to improve its position, it will switch to a higher-paying conference—as Louisville itself once did, right?

It's not a matter of exercising an option. By all accounts both ACC schools—and not only those two—are of P2 interest now. The ACC grant of rights simply keeps them where they are until 2036 unless some unprecedented (and likely expensive) step is taken.
The odds of such a step being taken, if not as high as 50%, are certainly higher than 0% given the potential revenues. The more money to be made, the more affordable an expensive step becomes. We'll see what happens.
In 2012 the cable TV revenue model rewarded conferences for adding new members from states not already in the footprint (New Jersey and Maryland in the B1G, Missouri and Texas in the SEC, etc). Shift to a streaming model changes the calculus. Streaming rewards 'big games.' Today we're seeing movement that brings appealing match-ups—USC-UCLA, Texas AM-Texas, Florida State-UF, North Carolina-South Carolina—into one tent.

I think the streaming model and the possibility of college teams making even more money than to try and raid various conferences for teams is the future. I can see all of the Power 5 getting together perhaps 5 to 10 years from now and cutting out ESPN, Fox, CBS, NBC. College sports could produce their own athletics (Football, Basketball, Hockey, Baseball etc) and distribute this content worldwide. The Big Ten, SEC, ACC, Big XII, Pac 12 could declare peace with the goal of getting even more money by working together. I am sure they could figure something out where by bigger brands would get more income.
