It pretty much seems like Candle will be a lame duck coach going into next season… If he finishes above .500 he will probably be retained by Blair and the uncertainty of the program will show in lackluster interest/hurt recruiting/ multiple transfers, then ends up being a no win situation for Rocket football …

Exactly!!!! Will it be easy or pretty to pull the plug now, or even at the end of the season? Of course not. In fact, it’s going to get ugly for a couple seasons with a new coach. But it’s going to be ugly under Candle if you kept him for the next season or two, as well— this Emperor simply has no clothes—so you might as well bite the bullet & try to get this program respected again sooner than later.

True story: out-of-town friend of mine called me after the Ohio State nightmare & gave me tons of crap. He just called, literally minutes after the loss to SDSU… and all he did was laugh until I hung up on him. THAT’S where Candle has taken what used to be a program that was mildly respected around the country.

Yes, season 2024 will be a start over with a new coaching staff, its going to be painful, lets hope for only a short period of time.

Respect that was garnered with the recent wins over Arkansas and BYU with a close loss to ND has pretty much diminished …
Today’s loss and a lousy Bahamas Bowl let down, along with the coulda - woulda - shoulda games the last few seasons has joe sports fan just shaking their heads and chuckling - “Same old Toledo”.
