USM, Marshall, ODU agreement with CUSA finally released
https://sm2media.com/31214/news/usm-paid...xit-c-usa/
1.75 Million per school, with an agreement not to disclose the terms of the agreement to UAB, UNT, UTSA, Rice, Charlotte, and FAU. USM Kept the baseball tournament as part of the deal.
CUSA Kept this out of the public eye until dropping its request to exempt this from FOIA about the time football season started, when it was far too late for the other 6 to try and leave early.

The USM Student Media Center broke the story.

I know there’s no love on this forum for WKU, but I feel so bad for them. They saw the writing on the wall. Got on a life raft to MAC with Middle Tennessee, it’s a done deal, wow they escaped. Nevermind, MSTU pulls out last second to collect a whopping $1 million from the exit fees. Everytime I see a WKU fan now, it’s like looking at the eyes of a dog I abandoned at the pound.

I did read the article. MTSU did not collect 3.1 million themselves like you are insinuating.

Never insinuated that. It cost those schools 3.1 million. I didn’t quote you.

And there are still people confused about how and why CUSA fell apart.

I don't think there was ever a question of how CUSA fell apart. The last CUSA always felt like a mismatched marriage of a hodge podge group of schools with nothing in common. It should surprise no one that almost every team in that league was prepared to leave at the first opportunity

RE: USM, Marshall, ODU agreement with CUSA finally released
The breakdown is +/- $1.5 million to cover the 2nd year's forfeited revenue that we weren't going to be around to actually forfeit and a +/- $250,000 early exit penalty.
So all that b.s. with the legal threats and phony schedule and generally making fools of themselves in the public eye netted them a whopping $250k extra per exiting school, all 3 of whom would've signed off on that settlement in November.
I get the premise of "we can't just let them walk because then the AAC 6 will do it, too," but it's a rather stupid premise. Nobody was going to stop them from leaving anymore than they stopped us if it came down to it. They just dug in and made themselves look dumb for no good, practical reason.

Those two bailed on the Sun Belt a few years back for the TV Market conference. Even though no one in those markets knew the schools existed. They made their bed.

I heard our AD, Jeremy McClain, say at a meeting that he expected leaving CUSA would cost about $3m in forfeited revenues if the notice was followed and we stayed through 2022-23.
We forfeited $1.4m for 2021-22 and paid $1.75m to leave. In order to leave early, we paid an additional $150,000 more than his previously estimated cost of staying through the notice.
Where is that Rice lawyer now?

"ODU has initiated action against the conference in the City of Norfolk, in which the Conference has asserted counterclaims against ODU and sought injunctive relief against ODU"
USM and Marshall did not get the counter claims and injunctive relief statement in their sections on page 2. Anybody know what that's about?

Maybe our contract was different since we had been in the Conference longer?
