Disney's Ship Is Clearly Sinking as Numbers Show Its Latest Offering Is Hardly...
Quote:They brought it upon themselves and I can’t think of a company that deserves it more.

Disney didn’t just stick its toe into the realm of politics, it leaped off a cliff and cannonballed into society’s largest manure pile. What’s more, it decided to lean into radical leftism and all the social justice causes that go with it. Its focus became more on diversity and inclusion, feminism, and LGBT causes to the point of being divisive. This was reflected in the shows it created, causing characters and storylines to become dull, predictable, and sometimes infuriatingly preachy.

As a result, Disney is bleeding viewers and its latest offering has fallen flat on its face, so much so that its pilot episode did not even register within the top 10 list of most-watched streaming shows.

We now have the numbers for the much-heralded but seldom watched “She-Hulk Attorney at Law” and it’s not pretty. According to Bounding Into Comics, the show failed to reach the Nielsen streaming content rating list, being beaten out by shows you’ve probably never heard of such as “Instant Dream Home” on Netflix.

Bounding reported that it’s still unclear if “She-Hulk” is the least watched show on Disney’s streaming platform as of right now, but it’s definitely sitting somewhere in the dregs:

Regardless, the show not making the charts is the first Marvel Studios show to not make Nielsen’s Top 10 Original chart. As noted above, Ms. Marvel placed 10th when it debuted with 259 million minutes.

Moon Knight, which debuted on March 30th, was 6th on the Nielsen chart at the time with 418 million minutes viewed.

Hawkeye’s two episode premiere on November 24, 2021 saw viewing minutes hit 853 million.

Loki had 731 million minutes viewed when it premiered back in June 2021. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier premiered with 495 million minutes viewed in March 2021.

Finally, WandaVision was viewed 434 million minutes when it premiered back in January 2021.

It’s likely that Disney eroded the goodwill of its audience with programs that continued to inject more and more social justice messaging into its programs no matter what property they were presenting. This message-first story writing has infected everything from Pixar to Star Wars and Marvel hasn’t been spared.

To think, Marvel used to be a cant-miss multi-billion dollar franchise that now can’t seem to attract the audiences that it used to. While some of that can surely be blamed on superhero fatigue, the majority of the complaints come from bad story writing and boring characters, as well as the injection of politics where it doesn’t belong.

She-Hulk, in particular, was slammed relentlessly for its opening episode featuring a feminist rant from the lead character about how good she is at controlling her anger while getting angry, and ranting to a male character that’s had infinitely far greater hardship than her. It was a moment that was lambasted across the internet, and the show never seemed to recover in reputation from it.

In fact, according to reports, it never tried and only continued to double down on its ridiculousness.

https://youtu.be/UEDy-W0q2tM

I’m sure the numbers aren’t going to get any better, and if the writers are doubling down on messaging in a show that is supposed to be for escapism, it’s likely they’ve dropped significantly, even from the opening episode.

Get woke, go broke.

Haven't seen any of the MCU shows, but the movies since Endgame have been terrible.

Actually surprised She-Hulk is struggling. I understand it's New Feminism, but in a Comedy, I can sort of understand that. It's one of the few MCU shows I'm interested in seeing someday.

I've only watched the two Spider Man Movies (When they came out on Starz), the Black Widow movie through Disney Plus and the Hawkeye tv show since Endgame.

I haven’t seen it, but I did hear just yesterday from a very non-political person that he had seen a couple of episodes and had enjoyed it. FWIW.

I’ve seen everything marvel and she-hulk is actually enjoyable. I enjoyed Loki and WandaVision but the rest of the Disney+ content has been dull and formulaic. The only movie since endgame I’ve enjoyed was Shang-Chi. The rest have been snoozers or confusing messes.

My best friend is Conservative & an all-things Marvel junkie. He loves it. Either ignores the political messaging in these things, or doesn't notice it. He'll be w/ the MCU till the end no matter how bad it gets.

Still, as the article says, why on Earth is She-Hulk losing to half a dozen shows I've never heard of?!?!?!?

Shang-Chi was actually the only Phase 4 movie I enjoyed as well. I didn't even like the Spider-Man movie outside of the Toby/Andrew/Tom interactions; It was a total mess.

We had Disney+ because I have 4 and 6 year old daughters that like the traditional pre-woke cartoon films (Beauty and the Beast, Snow White, etc). Nobody watched anything outside of those, and once they saw what they wanted to see, we dropped it. Pretty much everything they've produced since about 1995 has been trash, unless you are a Star Wars nerd, which nobody in my family is.

Since Endgame, I've seen:

Wandavision: Really hard to get through the first several episodes but then it gets watchable.

Falcon & The Winter Soldier: Good show. Lots of action and sort of a bleak/gray feel to it.

Hawkeye: Silly show. Didn't love it.

Loki: Really good. Maybe the best thing they've done since Endgame.

Spider-Man: Far From Home: Excellent.

Spider-Man: No Way Home: Excellent.

Eternals: What was the point of this movie? I thought it was slow and awful.

Shang-Chi: Really good.

Black Widow: Meh. Scarlett is hot, though.

Dr. Strange Multiverse of Madness: Really wanted to like it. Awful.

Thor: Love and Thunder: Really wanted to like it. Bale aside, awful.

Go woke go broke.....

I get trying to make women super heroes, but they gotta be more more original.

You can't just take male super hero X and then "create" She-X. It's lazy and pandering - the average person sees right through that.

I've watched every episode and all the movies.. We have D+.. We have a small kid that loves Disney movies..

The show isn't bad.. I've actually enjoyed it. It's not woke in my opinion. It's funny.. The main character breaks the 4th wall all the time.. I can't remember which episode it was but given the reviews of some fans that never looked at the comics only the movies, it poked fun of them.. "Why did they make the Hulk a woman, he was fine as a man" etc.

It's not everyone's cup of tea. It's half an hour an episode. They've brought in Tim Roth to reprise Abomination, Wong, and hinting at Charlie Cox showing up as Dare Devil.

And Ruffalo was in the first couple of episodes. There are some I've laughed harder at than others, and some I grinded through to see where it was leading to.

But I agree on the movies since Endgame.. The Spiderman movies were entertaining.. The new Thor was ok.. Shang Chi is about the only one besides Black Widow I've liked..

As far as the shows.. Falcon and Winter Soldier I really like with Moonknight. The others have been ok.

She Hulk is not trying to reboot the Hulk. She exists in the comics. First appeared in 1980.

Most of the Star Wars stuff has been trash too. The exception being the Mandalorian, and the last few episodes of Book of Boba Fett which were basically the Mandalorian.

I tried to like Obi Wan but it was boring to me.

Lucky you.. Your kids weren't introduced to Bluey.. It's an Aussie cartoon, each episode is like 8 minutes about a family of Heelers (dogs).. While it's for the kids, the Aussies put jokes in for the adults.

It had it's moments.. It was ok.. It was better than Thor and Thor: The Dark World.. But Ragnarok was better in my opinion.

And still made $1.41B last quarter. I don't think the are sweating any Neilson ratings. Quite frankly, how do you give ratings for online streaming?

Loved the soundtrack.

The story felt super rushed, and it was too silly... even for Thor.

I absolutely HATED Russell Crowe's Zeus.

I wouldn't know, I haven't gotten through any of them. Even as a kid, I couldn't get through 15 minutes. Never got the appeal, but people love it.
