Cause, Meet Effect: Hochul Tells Republicans to Move to Florida They Do That
Quote:After her predecessor complained about the moves, Kathy Hochul all but buys residents one-way tickets.

As Governor Ron DeSantis has most anyone on the left these days enraged beyond pragmatism, we here in Florida have a sense of a reality those same outrage merchants refuse to admit exists. For years, they have tried to slander DeSantis as an out-of-control tyrant and insisted that Florida is a hellscape of COVID infections and citizens helplessly watching their rights be stripped by a fascist regime. There’s only one small problem with this scenario; make that a huge problem:

People cannot stop stampeding to the Sunshine State.

Far more than immigrants working to breach our shores, residents are relocating here at an alarming clip, to the detriment of blue states. California has entirely run out of U-Haul Trucks. Illinois sees its residents walking away from political incompetence. Even Puerto Rico has been sending its professionals long before the hurricane disaster so today, the mainland now has more of its residents than the island itself.

However, the biggest exporter of citizens is New York. Before the pandemic, this was an issue, as then-Governor Cuomo was blaming his budget shortfall on the claim that Florida was “stealing” his wealthy residents. (The severe tax burden was not to blame, you see.) After COVID hit, New York was placed on a strident lockdown by Cuomo – except for the nursing homes – and this only led to more issues. During the pandemic around 350,000 citizens left the state, feeding a total of 1.5 million evacuees over a decade and seeing the state losing representation in Congress.

Now, new Governor Kathy Hochul has been looking over these figures and has decided the best remedy for her state is to – insult millions of residents and tell them to bugger off. Her state budget is facing a five-year debt estimated at $14 billion, and she thinks that instead of enticing businesses and the wealthy, her best option is to tell Republican New Yorkers to get the hell out.

As she is running for reelection, Hochul took the bold step of not trying to win people over to vote for her, choosing instead to divide and stumble. During a campaign event, Hochul got caught up in political fervor, telling her opponents, and those voting for them, they have no place in her state.

“We are fighting for democracy. We’re fighting to bring government back to the people and out of the hands of dictators. Trump and Zeldin and Molinaro – just jump on a bus and head down to Florida where you belong. OK? Get out of town. Because you don’t represent our values.”

Well, Kathy, a large number of those Republicans heard your messaging and they are responding – by saying, “Your terms are agreeable.” When the New York Post looked into driver’s license records, it noted that a record number of New Yorkers switched over their ID to Florida — nearly 6,000. This was not a yearly total; that took place just in August. And that does not account for moves by her citizens to other states during that period.

Hochul’s comments were made late that month, but her divisive directive to move out, coupled with rising taxes to cover shortfalls and crime rates spiking as the police force endures resignations and retirements due to political hostilities, means there is a growing incentive to vacate the state. It also means it is not just the wealthy moving out but also the middle class and families seeking safer locales.

The irony is in the Democrat governor failing to see the folly of her words. She is in a campaign to secure votes but instead is inspiring New Yorkers to vote with their feet.

I don't know if it'll pan out in voting, but this makes an already blue state more blue and adds a lot of red to a purple state. With FL's record of close votes, this is potentially a penny-wise pound-foolish strategy.

This is almost like a corporate early retirement package....

In order to thin out the heavy salaries - companies offer the early package. The problem is all their best people take the package, then turn around and consult or get another gig and basically double dip. All the less experienced and "less than stellar performers" are left behind because they cannot get a new gig.

The company is saving money, but they take other unintended hits as a result.

This idiot is pushing out the people who pay her bills and she is left only with the people who are her bills.

Friend of my wife’s is literally moving from NYC to Sarasota tomorrow. Been in the works for months. He can work from anywhere and said the amount of taxes saved alone is astonishing.

High crime, massive taxes, sh-tty weather and renting an apartment in Manhattan

Or

Own a home 5 mins from the beach in a gated neighborhood in sunny FLA

Yeppers and like Governor Cuomo was begging the people to come back and the wannabe president Gavin telling everyone that Florida is not for them. They're losing the people that pay the bills and keeping the ones that complain about everything and don't contribute Schiff.

It moves electoral seats from NY to FL...

Won't matter. The Left will continue to cheat like they always do.

Census Failure Helps Democrats in 2022 and 2024 Elections

Quote:WASHINGTON, DC – Fresh research reveals that the U.S. Census Bureau in 2020 overcounted the populations in Democrat states and undercounted in Republican states, resulting in wins for the Democrat Party in congressional reapportionment and an unmerited boost in the Electoral College for the 2024 presidential election.

With the 2022 elections roughly 50 days away and the Supreme Court about to take up major election cases, conservatives are crying foul and demanding answers.

The Census Clause of the Constitution requires a census to count the United States population every 10 years. Those totals determine how many seats in Congress each state has, what the lines of every federal and state legislative district is in each of those states, and how many votes each state has in the Electoral College to elect the president every four years.

An official survey shows that census workers undercounted people in Arkansas, Florida, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Texas. The same survey shows workers overcounted people in Delaware, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New York, Ohio, Rhode Island, and Utah.

Every single undercounted state is a reliable Republican state in presidential elections, including Florida, which is the home state of Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis. By contrast, all of the overcounted states except two – Ohio and Utah – have reliably voted for Democrats in recent elections.

As a result, Florida will lack two U.S. House seats it should have gained and Texas is deprived of one House seat, numbers that also impact how many votes those two states have in the Electoral College.

“If a politician from Florida decides to run for president in 2024, his (or her) home state will be short two votes in the Electoral College,” wrote Hans von Spakovsky of the Heritage Foundation and the American Constitutional Rights Union, “and when the new session of the U.S. House of Representatives convenes in January 2023, Florida will be missing two congressional seats to which it is entitled.”

Von Spakovsky also noted that the 5.05 percent overcount in Rhode Island allowed that state to keep a congressional seat to which the Constitution does not entitle it, and the same can be said of Minnesota, which was overcounted by 3.84 percent.

In contrast to these 2020 failures, the 2010 census had an error rate of only 0.01 percent. No one has explained these explosions in the failure rate for 2020, or why they benefit the Democrat Party.

At the same time, major election fights are brewing in court, including two upcoming cases in the Supreme Court.

During the first week of the Supreme Court’s new annual term, the justices will hear Merrill v. Madigan on October 4, about whether Alabama’s new district lines violate the federal Voting Rights Act of 1965.

A couple months later in Moore v. Harper, the Supreme Court will consider the meaning of the Constitution’s Elections Clause, which says that in each state, the “Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives … [is to be] prescribed … by the Legislature thereof.” Challengers there say that the legislature in each state is the highest authority on those questions, while the other side argues that all this means is that legislators pass laws, but those laws are then subject to litigation in court, and that therefore each state’s supreme court has the final word on those election issues.

“It’s curious how errors by career federal bureaucrats help the Left win elections, regardless of which political party controls the White House,” said Ambassador Ken Blackwell, formerly co-chairman of the Census Monitoring Board and currently chairman of the Center for Election Integrity at the America First Policy Institute (AFPI). “Just as this country needs new laws at the state level that make it easy to vote, but hard to cheat, new statutory safeguards must be implemented at the federal level to regain public confidence in how the census is conducted.”
