Pro Football Belt
I thought some folks here might be interested in this: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1...ue&sd=true

It's the same principle as the unofficial College Football Belt: you start with the winner of the first game ever played and track the "belt" up to the present. Any questions, please ask!

RE: Pro Football Belt
Good show with the tallies of number of games played with the belt.

Just in case anyone noticed, there were technical breaks in the line of succession if you use the franchises as listed on Pro Football Reference, where I pulled the data from in the first place. There are three potential cases of franchises taking the belt with them as they either folded or went on hiatus: the Canton Bulldogs after the 1923 season, the Cleveland Bulldogs after the 1927 season, and the Boston Yanks after the 1948 season. However, in those cases, I did a little research to find out which team in the following season could be considered the most direct continuation of each franchise.
  • After their 1923 campaign, the Canton Bulldogs were bought by the owner of the Cleveland Indians (the NFL ones), who merged the clubs into the Cleveland Bulldogs for the 1924 season.
  • Despite returning from a hiatus that lasted for all of 1926, the Cleveland Bulldogs franchise was sold following the 1927 season and moved to Detroit to become the Wolverines for 1928.
  • And the owner of the Boston Yanks deliberately had the NFL fold his franchise (as a tax write-off!) after the 1948 season and give him a new one, the New York Bulldogs, for 1949.
