And Toledo area residents don't realize that they have one of the most exciting players in the Country at QB. Too bad a bunch will miss out on seeing him play at the Glass Bowl like they did with Kareem, Reggie, etc.

RE: Someone’s daydream
I have no doubt at as some point, the transfer portal will eventually touch Toledo in a bigger way. In today's day and age, it would not surprise me in the least, to hear Finn or another star player jumps to another team. I am sure that Saturday night's national telecast sparked a lot of interest. I am sure there will be a few programs tuning in to watch the SDSU game. A place like Ohio State with a stable of running backs might not, but I could see a program like Minnesota, Kansas State, Iowa State, or even a larger Group of 5 program offering opportunities. If you are an average Power 5/6 program or below, you have to create a solid program and culture to weather the transfers. A lot of Sun Belt teams also take in a number of transfers from SEC teams. UAB is a solid program, has players transfer out and has players from Alabama, etc. transfer in. The program overall is successful, because of the foundation. I think you almost to have to embrace it. I'm not saying promote it like "We can can get you to state", but you could brag about some big names who moved on behind the scenes, as well at keep talking to those riding the pine at bigger schools.

If Finn was at that other school, he would be languishing on the bench, transfer to an SEC school and win an NC.

Losing to OSU is a bad deal in so many ways. Blow to program image, portal issues, etc. Is the money really worth it? They’ll say yes. This is what a football tidal pool looks
like. The G5’s are now a bunch of football cheap dates. I could have used another word. Football culture shock.

I believe the average and below group of five teams will suffer because of the transfer portal. I just see it hurting the smaller schools

It's a bit of a zero sum game isn't it? Top G5 players get attracted to Power conference. 3 and 4 stars sitting by roster winners transfer to G5 to get playing time. Both the G5 and the power teams have to fill rosters.

If there's to be a loser, I'm thinking it's the high school recruits. Before portals and NILs, a power five or a G5 recruit that was seeing the light at the end of the career, sitting on a bench just quit. Now they find another place to be, filling a roster spot. That's an opening not there for a high school recruit. So where do they end up? In FCS or D2.

East: I agree 100% on HS comment. Spot-on. However- I'm not sure about current player portal situation. If a player goes to P5 that likely means he can play at P5 and if P5 goes to G5 then he cannot. That doesn't seem to be a wash for the G5. It just makes it harder and harder for G5 teams to have consistently good teams. The G5 is in a very tough spot. Truly unfortunate. I still love the MAC.

Go Rockets!

Makes sense. Their inability maybe depends upon which P5 their coming from. There are extremely capable players sitting bench behind even more capable players. If the G5 coach allows the transfer, I would guess their judgement is that player is better than wha tthey currently have.

Geez, where are the spooners when we actually need them? 03-lmfao Dawg fans in disguise? Nah'

We get a few players from GA. Can't expect them all to be Wreck fans. I noted EMU has an uptick of southern players and players from the South burbs of Detroit. I've been begging we hit Dearborn, Belleville, Ecorse,.... I've watched enough ball to think I'm seeing some big kids playing good line, not to mention the skill spots. I'd hate for EMU to make in-roads to Detroit proper. Next coach needs a staff that can interest these locals.
