Yeah, I chuckled at that, too.

If aliens blasted Earth and blew it to bits, the ACC would still be sharing an asteroid with Raycom.

Beautiful complex that sits on one of the golf courses at the Grandover Resort.

The ACC headquarters currently sits about a mile from the Sedgefield Country Club, where the conference was founded in 1953.

The whole setup screams "country club", to be honest.

why the tax incentive then ...

DISTINCTION WITHOUT A DIFFERENCE

Because cities want business in their city.

How does this advance the ACC in any way? $15 million doesn't even dent a current $20 million a year revenue gap, soon $40-$50 million a year.

Just means nothing.

The HQ move to Charlotte is not a huge deal, but it’s a step in the right direction. One of the ACC’s weaknesses is the ability to generate adequate revenue. Charlotte is more conducive to modern business needs than the staid country club. Changing locations, while getting $15M in financial incentives, is a small win.

In reality Charlotte is the core of Duke's financial support in the State of NC so it's a win for Duke, Clemson, and UNC. A loss for VT, UVa, and WF. It's a neutral event for everyone else unless they like being close to Mustard BBQ.

I fail to see how this is a loss for anyone other than Greensboro itself. Not sure that VT or UVA care in the slightest where ACC HQ is located.

Birmingham has the largest airport in Alabama, the state that's pretty close to the middle of the SEC's footprint.

Honestly, not that different from what the ACC is doing.

Birmingham's airport is rinky-dink compared to CLT. Of course most of the SEC schools are in smaller cities

The ACC’s new headquarters will be located in Uptown Charlotte as part of Legacy Union’s Bank of America Tower. The development includes the world headquarters of Honeywell and major corporate offices for Bank of America, Deloitte, JLL, Robinson Bradshaw and Parker Poe.

The league will use the 2022-23 academic year as a transition period to complete the relocation process.

I am neutral on this move. I don't think it really matters to the schools that are not in North Carolina. I suppose Charlotte is a bigger city and has better flight connections and a bigger business community so in that sense it is probably a decent move.

I stopped by yesterday and got a few pictures. It looks like PeteTheChop has been neglecting his duty as groundskeeper, because the shrubs needed a tendin’. That’s how he got his handle you know? He’s got a mean set of shrub choppin’ hands!
