What MAC school would you prefer to replace Miami with a 2-1 or 3-1?
Ball State is the next closest MAC school to UC besides the Foreskiners.
Played them only once. 1993 UC 44 BSU 12

None. Miami stays.
Ohio is my second choice if Miami has to go.

Toledo for the relatively strong program, fan base, and northern Ohio, southern Michigan recruiting. OU for location and because I have a soft spot for OU. But not really interested in any of them.

Toledo, Kent State, and Akron. Get as much exposure in northern OH and MI as possible.

None. The Big 12 schedule mandates that we have 1 P5, 1 G5, and 1 FCS game per year.
If we are going to play a MAC school, they would be taking up our only G5 spot for the season. With tickets now demanding $80/seat just to get in the gate, it would be better for UC to buy games against local MAC schools rather than going to their stadium.

None. If the Miami has to get canceled, why replace them with a school that we have even less reason to play?
The MAC is almost the same as the MVC these days. So we may as well schedule an MVC school at Nip rather than play away games.
Speaking of which, I wish our annual FCS games were always against local schools. Illinois State, Youngstown State, Indiana State, EKU, Duquesne

None, but if I'm going to be selfish about it and just look at my own interest I would rotate Miami, OU, and Toledo.

It would be beneficial to provide Bearcat exposure to other parts of Ohio (and Indiana) with the likes of Toledo, Kent, and Ball State.

In this scenario does it really increase our exposure to play home games against Ball St, Toledo and Kent? It's not like we would be traveling to these locations often I don't think one game really would increase visibility...They would just end up being ESPN U, ESPN+ or FS1 type games.
I do get the feeling the Victory Bell rivalry is getting a little long in the tooth especially when one team is falling so much further behind, but truth is that Miami has been one of the better MAC teams for the past 3 or so years. From a quality standpoint they are a much better game than teams like Kent, Ball State and maybe even Toledo at this point.

I really don’t understand the advantage of one Mac school over another. Neither will be viewed as a better win by the national media, and our exposure to the entire Mac footprint is in now way lacking from one town to another. Schedule whatever is viewed as most profitable IMO. I’d assume that’s Miami but maybe it’s Ohio u or someone else. Maybe I’m missing some points altogether ?
As far as fcs opponents I thought Dayton recently became fcs. They seem like the perfect matchup for our buy game.

Bolded, that's correct. Miami is picked to win their MAC division this season.
Maybe that pre-conference rule for the Big 12 changes if the conference expands again to 16, 18, or 20 schools, and there will only be two non-conference games in that model; who really knows.
I'm having a hard time sorting out who would be better than Miami from the G5 to fill the need for UC. There would be little to no interest for AAC left behinds to visit--heck, we can't sell some of those out now as conference opponents and a visit from Temple or Tulsa leaves me cold. Other MAC schools--Ball State, Toledo, Kent State? I'm not sure UC needs "recruiting exposure" in any of those markets that won't already be gained by national telecasts of Big 12 games. The Bearcats shouldn't go to those places and if those schools come to Cincy, plan on lots of empty seats in their Nippert visitor seating allocations.
In Miami's defense, it is local with a large local alumni base here and many "divided marriages" where the spouse is a Miami graduate. They can and do bring fans to Nippert--more so than any of those others schools I listed. So why not let them take their ritual beating in the coming years; fill seats and let those not fortunate enough to get tickets for those sold out Big 12 games get to experience Nippert firsthand?

I can agree with those three. We recruited Mike Warren and James Hudson [transfer] out of Toledo so that is a good spot to keep our brand fresh for recruiting purposes [adjacent to Michigan too]. Athens is a great college town and OU has a wonderful campus nearby. Keeping MyAMUH in a rotation helps to keep all those "rivalry" folks happy.

I can understand some people wanting to stop this as a yearly series, and I agree with you. I think Miami is a good situation from us, though I was a bit disheartened by the attendance. Last time we played at PBS during Oktoberfest we topped 40k which I think is a good target number for this rivalry if played downtown.
I could see a couple localish G5 teams who would travel well for a game at UC, but I would not want to give up a home game except once or twice a decade. I do like when P5 teams travel to smaller schools, but I would not want to do it every other year.
I know Marshall can be a good draw, but they can be dangerous. I think OU is also a good draw. Miami is above all the other Ohio MAC teams right now, and I don't see any of the directional Michigans, or Ball State offering anything different than Miami.
Maybe Toledo/BGSU/Kent/Akron fans would be more excited for an OOC away game they can actually travel to? Other than different shades of jerseys on the field, I don't feel these games would feel that different for UC.
Just some random musings...

Ohio is my second choice if Miami has to go.
Miami is (arguably) the only one with pedigree, so my answer is “none.”

Maybe do a 1-1-1 with Marshall, but I don't think they'd agree to that.

What are the chances we get a 1-1 but all of Miami’s home games are downtown?

Maybe, especially if the downtown game alternate years becomes a "neutral site" meaning UC can market and sell tickets unfettered for half the stadium. Seems to me from some chatter in recent days that Miami may have suppressed ticket sales to reduce stadium overhead expenditures or UC crowd domination or both.

I don't find the MAC very interesting. They're all the same to me.
